There is nothing he says here that is not absolutely true. The racists are the clowns that prepared this thing with their own stupid comments.

Are there not white people in the suburbs who resent paying taxes to educate Black children?  This is the main reason why White folks moved out to the 'burbs: to avoid city property taxes.

If the people are white, why is it wrong to point this out?

The advantage of suburban living is you usually only pay a county tax, where as if you live inside the city limits you pay city and county.

Most people move to the suburbs and now the exurbs because the housing was usually more affordable.

Commuting wasn't near the problem nor the expense than it is now.

If this isn't one of the best examples in the different perspectives between conservative and liberal ideological foundations, I must have missed it.  Good job, gentleman

Why are poor people pileing up in a high tax area , when a lower tax area is so few miles away?

People live where they can afford to live. There are fewer inexpensive rental apartments for rent in the suburbs. Where you have a high density of population, you have more costs for services. A public transit system is not needed where everyone has a car. Streets require less maintenance when there is less heavy traffic and fewer heavy trucks. The crime rate is lower, so you need fewer police. The average family has fewer children in the suburbs, so the cost per residence for schools is less.

First of all, I was addressing your question, not anything Obama said.

And why does it belie his statement?

I will let you decide on what he said.

Some people move to the suburbs because they believe, probably correctly, that their children will learn more in an environment where that are surrounded with the children of like-minded middle class strivers and not those of people who do not read and who do not value education as much as they do.

Some move because they regard a house as a major investment, and the lower taxes and faster appreciation of suburban real estate is a more lucrative investment.

Some move because they dislike Black people and prefer to be surrounded by people like themselves.

Some move because they like the fresh air and quiet environment of suburbia.

Taxes are a part of the reason, but they are not the only reason, and for many, not even the main reason.

Are you avoiding calling these wise people "white"?

I don't even think that all people who move to the suburbs are white. Most are, but then again, most middle class people, people who have money in the US are white. You only have to venture to Atlanta to see thousands of middle class Black people who have moved to the suburbs there for most , if not all of the reasons I gave.

Middle class White people prefer not to have poor Black neighbors They probably also would prefer not to live next to a White guy with a collection of old trucks up on blocks in front of his trailer, either.

Middle class Black people have most of the same preferences.

As racism slowly dies out, classism takes over.
