Red-tail Hawk

I saw 3 Red-tail Hawks today. I'm pretty sure they were all Red-tails. However, one was flying through the woods, fairly low, which is not something Red-tails are known for. They're circlers, or they perch high on the edge of a clearing.

It seems to go in spurts for me. I won't see any for several weeks than I'll see them everywhere. I have found a couple of places (plenty of pheasants around) where I can watch them hunt. Twice they took prey within feet of me. They come in out of nowhere and then they're gone, all in the blink of an eye.

I have never seen those except one at a time .

Every now and then the buzzards can be seen passing through here in large flocks.

These were all a good distance apart. It is possible two of the sightings were the same bird, but I don't think so. The third definitely not.

The same buzzards that summer in Hinckley, Ohio spend the winter in Miami.

The photoof the red-tailed hawk is nice, but alas! You cannot see the color of his tail.

They are only here for a week or so , strange and fantastic to see them traveling together.
