Ok I am going the opposite of the herd....I am not so hard on United Airlines

As somebady that has been bumped twice I tend to arange my travel around the possibility of this may happening. But to side with the doctor should the public expect less of the airlines if the possibility to bumped is a serious factor for travel.

Trains do and passegers are warned to never be on schedule due to them sharing the tracks with other trsins.

Plane:
  Even with such late warning market forces could have helped.

   Offering more and better inducements such as a free flight , many travel miles, deluxe upgrades and hotel stays , even cash.

   This kind of bidding would have eventually been answered by someone willing to sell his seat.

    If the entire planefull held out in spite of strong bribery, then that would prove that they were all highly motivated to travel that day.

   If every one of them was just that sort of motivated , it might really have been better to rent a charter to carry that replacement crew.

The problem i have is this issue should of bern hashed out before getting on the plane. The difference would be no one will be dragged out just simply denied access to the plane.
