"Looks like our increase is going to be a minimum of 31.3%"
« on: August 23, 2016, 01:23:48 PM »
This is an introductory e-mail I received this morning from our HR guy that handles our company health insurance.

"Looks like our increase is going to be a minimum of 31.3%"

Hillary/Obama love shouting out how great all the "goodies" are going to be and then cost reality hits the fan later for working people.

This is really sad how Hillary/Obama screw working people over....lie lie lie before they pass their trojan horse.

Yea, if that were to actually be allowed to happen.  What we actually have here is the wonders of increased Government intervention.  And what's the left's suggestion for saving.....MORE GOVERNMENT

How can you be sure that without Obamacare the same rate increase would not occur?
Insurance companies lie, hospitals are notorious liars. They will charge patients $9.00 for a fucking Tylenol.

How can you prove it would have without Obamination Care.  The fact was any increases were a fraction of what they are now under Government's intervention.   Competition is the only way to keep these costs under control

You call several hospitals and ask how much a procedure costs and they refuse to tell you.
You call a pharmacy and ask for the price of a prescription and they either put you on hold for an hour or tell you that they do not quote prices over the phone.
Mail order companies are banned from filling prescriptions faxed by customers.
Drug companies triple the price of generic prescriptions.
There is no competition.

I can go to 5 different stores and get 5 different prices for the same item.  I can go to a dozen different new car dealerships, and get 12 different prices for the same car.  Competetion doesn't beget the same identical price.  On the contrary, competetion faciltiates peoples and companies to offer better products & services at lower prices to better gain market share and sales.

Government not only mucks that up, but drives up costs while lowering quality

You cannot go to 5 different hospitals and get any quotes at all.
There is no competition allowed and there has never been.
You cannot choose the best price if the vendor refuses to even tell you what the prices are.

That's because there are too many variables and logistics involved.  What they CAN do, is give someone a "ballpark idea", but its impossible to get an exact quote, unless it comes directly from the Insurance company

And wrong again, our hospital is in DIRECT competition, and ALWAYS HAS BEEN, for patients to come here vs going to some other hospital

That is a joke. Hospitals deliberately refuse to publish prices. They will charge a patient with insurance A one price and another with insurance B another, and some poor sap with no insurance the most of all.

exactly the opposite
when my brother had surgery the cash price was much less than the insurance price
naturally so....the cash price they get their money immediately so of course it's cheaper

That is a joke.

What you call a joke is reality...One that I live on a daily basis.  It's not a fast food restaurant, so its not going to have a list of costs or "weekly specials".  They charge what they charge, and if its too exorbitant to a person or insurance company, the hospital will be dropped, and we lose patients, which loses money to the Hospital.  Government regulations thru Obamination care are not only making it less safe for patients to be discharged, now its making a nightmare for our Social Workers and Discharge Planners, in trying to arrange the appropriate equipment.  I realize you don't care, since they work for "the big evil hospital", but since it directly effects the safety of the patient, as we try to rehabilitate them from whatever brought them into the hospital in the 1st place, folks like myself, do care

Not to mention, all the charitable care and services that we provide to those with no insurance or money.  I have been working with a homeless woman with severe circulation problems in her right leg.  So bad, she couldn't even walk using her cart.  She received life saving bypass surgery, and extensive therapy following the surgery.  And you think she was charged for it??

And what Cu4 references IS TYPICAL

That is bullshit. You have no clue what the people in the business office do at your hospital.
All sorts of studies have been done on this, and they reveal all manner of collusion between hospitals, charges for people who were not present at an operation, and overcharges for everything.

What is needed is the the government to sweep in there like gangbusters and put in some REAL CONTROLS on the health care racketeers.

How about the company that decided to charge FIVE TIMES MORE for Epipens? Canada and other countries do not let these thieves get away with this sort of shit.
