"Fair & Square"
« on: June 02, 2008, 10:47:54 PM »
Anyone follow Terry McCauliffe's world-class bitch-a-thon about how poor Hillary's been robbed of Michigan votes after "she won them fair and square?"

Has anyone tried to explain publicly to this loser that there is nothing "fair and square" about running in an election against a guy who took his name off the ballot and failed to campaign because the Rules of the day were the votes wouldn't be counted?  WHAT in the God-damned Hell is "fair & square" about winning in such circumstances?  And what's fair about counting any of those votes after the rules at the time said that those votes WOULDN'T be counted.   Isn't ANYONE going to call the asshole out publicly on that?

(Just askin)

Hillary did not remove her name , she must have been covering the possibility that she would need this.

Why did Obama remove his name?

Probably to forestall any later claim by Hillary to count the votes.  If he didn't waste time campaigning in Michigan but still left his name on the ballot, he'd be open to later argument from Clinton that by leaving his name on, he'd tacitly competed in the election and therefore couldn't now maintain that the votes not be counted.  If the votes can't be counted, Senator, why'd you leave your name on the ballot?

So you don't think he would have had many votes if his name were availible on the ballot?

<<So you don't think he would have had many votes if his name were availible on the ballot?>>

We can only speculate.  If he knew the Michigan votes would be counted he would have campaigned there.  If he had campaigned there, he would probably have eaten into the advantage that Hillary had in name recognition.  How far he would have eaten into that is unknown.  But he's a pretty charismatic guy and Michigan has a lot of black voters - - he coulda done pretty well in a hard-fought campaign.

What is hasty about calling the Democrats disorganised? This is not a new or novel observation.

I thought I was being hasty in jumping from the current mess over the Michigan and Florida voters to calling them scatter-brained.

Scatter-brained is much worse than disorganized.  Disorganized implies a lack of regimentation and order, but it also implies a kind of intellectual ferment and an unrestrained freedom.  Scatter-brained implies a lack of concentration or the ability to concentrate, a lack of seriousness and purpose.

The Democrats were always a collection of odd bedfellows, so there was necessarily some disorganization, and on the whole I think it worked to their advantage.  It was certainly a more attractive party for free spirits, artists and bohemians than the Republican Party ever was.
