Marco Rubio snookered by the President
« on: June 19, 2012, 06:21:04 PM »
Poor prettyboy Marco was snookered by our President, who simply put Rubio's "Dream 0Act Lite" into practice. Poor Mitt still hasn't decided whether he would revoke Obama's order or not.

I find this amusing.

Obviously Obama did the end run because of Rubio's ethnic heritage. Can't have a Latino outshine him.

He did this because it made good sense for both the nation and his political situation. He will get more votes for having done it.

Nothing is preventing Rubio from submitting his bill to Congress. But Rubio was also after votes. Rubio seems to really want to run for VP. But I see the likelihood slipping away. Rubio isn't very qualified. He is just pretty.

The best possible VP candidate would be David Petraeus, but he says he is not interested.

The Dream Act went before Congress. I believe the Senate tabled it, due to lack of votes.
Obama will lose votes because of action because he is now flooding the market with nearly 1 million newly eligible workers in an already over supplied job market. Blacks are already at 40% unemployment, they they will appreciate Juan cutting in line in front of them?

This will make NO DIFFERENCE in employment. These people are already in the country and have been for at least five years. They are already employed. Do you think they have been living on air? The President's actions have been shown in polls to be favored by 66% of the Independent voters.

Rubio was co-opted, left out in the cold to freeze to death, perhaps to join the festering corpse of Mel Martinez, drummed out of the chairmanship and the Senate by idiot Republicans for daring to embrace sanity in immigration legislation.

Obama is Using Latinos As Pawns
in His Game of Political Chess

By Luis Alvarado - Political Analyst for CNN Espanol and Telemundo

June 19, 2012

President Obama surprised the political world with the rollout of his mini-DREAM Act. It had become another Etch A Sketch moment for the president, mostly because he had vigorously defended his inability to enact any similar executive orders due to constitutional constraints. The political chess move would render two objectives: getting those "Dreamers" protesting outside his campaign offices into the office as supporters, and also giving him a shield for his meeting this coming Thursday with Latino political powerhouse NALEO, where he had promised four years ago that he would enact comprehensive immigration reform. He could not just have walked into that convention empty handed.

I agree that the Dreamers deserve access to a permanent immigration status solution, a solution where the law enhances the strength of our country with the legalization of their immigration status. Then the work status for the Dreamers would be permanent. I don't believe the president had the legal right to give the work permits; I defer to the legal scholars and the judicial system to determine the constitutionality of these actions.

Politically, by allowing this new bloc of residents to enter the workforce, there will unintended consequences. There will be heavier burdens for the states and higher competition for jobs.

Already we are seeing members of the African-American community demonstrating their dissatisfaction for this new policy. But also it will not be a rosy road for the Dreamers: They will be prone to fraud and intimidation by fake lawyers and those who will seek to profit from the new policy. It will take months before we understand how this is all going to look once it is working. By that time the election will be over and it could all be reversed by another executive order or judicial review.

The Dreamers have been invited to participate in the political process; unfortunately, once again they will be relegated to political pawns in the chess game of presidential campaigns. When President Obama visits Orlando to meet with NALEO, he will have a shiny object to display. It will not be a promise kept that would have addressed the issue of 11.5 million undocumented residents, just a crack in the door for a few Dreamers to squeak in. I hope NALEO has the fortitude to shed its pawn status and call out President Obama for choosing to ignore the Latino community until he needed them again for his re-election campaign. That would be a proud Latino moment

They are already employed.

They shouldn't be, without proper documentation. Thought e-Verify was the answer, that it would catch illegals during the application process. Are you saying it is nothing more than a data gathering spybot used to collect info on US citizens at great cost to business and an even greater cost to a citizens right to privacy?

I am saying that these young people are mostly all employed and obviously not living on air. They will not affect employment figures much at all. I have no idea whatever about how many have been denied employment by e-Verify.

I commend President Obama for taking a stand. Let Prettyboy Rubio go ahead and submit his "Dream Act Lite" to Congress. If it is the right thing to do, he should do it. If not, he should never have bothered to write it.

A Hispanic has as much business voting Republican as a chicken would have to vote for Col. Sanders.

If they are illegals they should have been caught through e-Verify.

If not, then there is a flaw in the system.

And what have the dems done for Hispanics anyway. Hound George Zimmerman and put his life in danger? Remind them they take second seat to the blacks? The last amnesty for hispanic illegals was signed and promoted by the GOP and signed by Reagan. First Hispanic Cabinet Member appointed by Reagan.

e-verify is not universal.

Hispanics are not going to vote Republican because of Reagan's amnesty in the 1980's. Obama will get a majority of their votes, as the Democrats always do: the only unknowns are by how big a margin and the turnout among Hispanics. Zimmerman is not any sort of hero to Hispanics. he is not even a Hispanic to most of them.

E-verify is required for all new hires.
But you haven't answered the question as to why a hispanic should vote dem? What have they done for them?

Hispanics as a group ALWAYS vote for Democrats. Each has his own reasons, but as a rule it is because the GOP is the party of the rich, the party of war, and the party of Old White Guys.

Most Hispanics have come from countries ruled by the rich, the wars that the US has fought in Latin America have been in favor of the oligarchies (El Salvador, Guatemala, the Dominican Republic) other than in Cuba, and th Old White Guys are the bosses who have played the Hispanics off against the Blacks and other minorities since WWI.

Half of all Hispanics, of course are women, and the GOP is decidedly against women's rights.

There is no chance that Romney will get a majority of Hispanic votes, as you will see.

So let's see:
first Hispanic U.S. Senator
first Hispanic U.S. Congressman
first Latina in Congress
First Hispanic cabinet member
First Hispanic U.S. attorney general
First Hispanic U.S. surgeon general

All under the GOP

Meanwhile the dems say:
Other Hispanic Democrats, including former DNC vice-chairwoman Linda Chavez-Thompson, have accused the party of taking Hispanic support for granted, and not doing enough to increase turnout among Latinos: "I think for the longest time [the Democratic Party], including myself, automatically thought that if you were a Latino you voted Democrat," she said. "That’s not true anymore. We need to ramp up our Latino outreach. We can’t sit back and let the Republicans take votes because we don’t have a message for Latino voters.

Again, no Republican presidential candidate in recent times has ever gotten a majority of the Hispanic vote, and Romney will likely do worse than Juniorbush.

Look how the GOP treated Mel Martinez: they fired him as chairman and then forced him out of the Senate.
It is not enough to paint sirs brown and say "If sirs were Hispanic, he would vote for Romney", or to paint sirs Black and say "if sirs were Black, he would spit on Sharpton and Jackson and then vote Republican."

Linda Chavez has no message for Hispanics.

Romney's message is "deport yourself".
