Just because people would prefer cars that run on sunlight does not mean that building such cars would not require a huge amount of work.

So Obama would build cars in his spare time?

It is a metaphor, please do not play dumb.

People vote for the changes they would like to see take place. They do not vote for the specific methods by which changes will take place.

So you agree that Obama would not have to work himself to the bone for solar powered vehicles to be a reality?

Obama would have to work hard to devise and implement a scheme to rescue the economy, end the war, implement universal health care and such.

As I said, the bit about cars is a METAPHOR. I would not think that Obama woud have anything to do with designing vehicles.

Will Obama do all this himself or will he have staff draw up multiple plans and choose the best? Still tryin to figure out why he would have to work himself to the bone.

That is a matter of philosophy and style.

Contrast Carter and Reagan , Carter took on a lot of the task personally and Reagan was more likely to deligate , but Reagan was not less likely to get what he wanted done.

Do you get the sense that Obama is a micro manager of Carter proportions?

======================================
Carter was sincerely trying to run the country. Reagan was sincerely trying to follow the script.

Carter was sabotaged by those who put Reagan in power and wrote his scripts.

I see no evidence at all that Obama is micro managing anything. I imagine that he is a LOT more aware of potentials for sabotage. Carter thought everyone was a nice guy, because he was a nice guy.

Reagan played the part of a nice guy, who let foul ratbastards like Casey carry out the plans in their common script.

Carter failed to clean up a mess because he was unaware of its existence. Reagan didn't have to be aware, his role was to look successful above all else. He never worried about the mess under the stage and behind the scenes. It wasn't in his script.
