Rep. Rayne Brown, North Carolina State Republican, Introduces Bill Criminalizing Nipple Exposure

North Carolina state representatives have introduced a bill that would "clarify" state law to specifically prohibit the baring of women's breasts. Women worried about showing too much of their "private area" should use pasties, or perhaps duct tape.

The proposed legislation, House Bill 34, would make it a Class H felony to expose "external organs of sex and of excretion, including the nipple, or any portion of the areola, of the human female breast."

It is one thing  to want to see a nipple or to not want to see a nipple. The fact is we are genetically programmed to notice nipples. Making nipple flashing illegal is simply sick.

I doubt that this is typical of North Carolinians, or right wingers, either.

Oh yes , I am against anything that makes breast feeding more difficult, mothers that want to serve their infants as best they are able ought to be encouraged and facilitated , not discouraged nor hassled. This is an important and difficult decision for child care , unhelpfull government stupidity not needed.

But even so , if this legislator is representing his people he is likely to succeed and be re-elected. I expect hie is working against nude beaches and not lactation. If he includes exceptions for lactation I won't have an objection.

It is clearly typical of SOME of them, but not all.

I don't think that being scandalized by seeing nipples is likely to be common to all North Carolinians. After all, each and every one of them was born with two of them.

i was at the Bellagio a few years ago and was amazed at some of these old fat dudes

Well of course, it would be a rare group where every individual thought exactly the same. However, if you were given just the legislation and then asked to guess which party was involved and which area of the country, I doubt you'd guess Democrat, Connecticut. This is the kind of overbearing, religiously uptight, intolerant, horseshit, that could only come from the southern right.
