That I understand, for certain. It's a strange thing - even when everything in your brain tells you what to do, you remain unconvinced on some level. And it's NOT just the addiction to nicotine, as many think. If that were the only issue, the nicotine patch would have helped more people.

I think I assumed that most of the group - from way back anyway - knew all of this. Certainly we talked about smoking enough back in the Yahoo Chat days, but I guess that's been a long time ago.

And Cindy, I'm curious to know what "folks" find BT disgusting? That was a horrible, horrible thing to say. What on earth came over you? Because you put him on the defensive about smoking and he responded?

Off the top of my head, I can think of a few people in this group who smoke, myself included. We are not ignorant of the health warnings printed on each pack of smokes. That they are bad for health is well known, and no matter how well intended your Public Service Announcements might be... umm... we already know. No offense intended, but belaboring the point is nothing short of irritating.

It's typical Cindy. She butts in, says something stupid, then complains about being called on it. It's also classic BT. It's funny as hell to watch him ask simple questions until her head explodes.

Thus the scanner clip. It's what I see every time it happens.

 

Oh, it's been over six years since I quit smoking. One thing I know for sure, you won't quit if you don't want to. All you can really do is offer a little encouragement once in a while. He knows he should quit. He doesn't want to. His choice.
