I love this cartoonist. She really understands a lot about nationalities and is always amusing.

There are few things less comfortable than being trapped with a Jesus freak. I once worked in a Goodyear tire warehouse where this Jesusfreak named Rene liked to trap people and try to convert them in the elevator. It was a slow elevator. Unless you told him to go to Hell or worse, he would not leave you alone.

He had been there for five years and never won a convert, they told me.

uhm
thats the reason I don`t talk about almost dying last year. Despite I`m already a baptist Alot of ultra -religious types want to recruit me when they know about my face to face with death. this is a new one on me

Which relative of yours told you to turn back it's not your time?

oh no
nothing dramatic as that
I just had kidney failure and made it to the er in time for them to get it working again. the doctor later told me I could of died that day.
I was awake the whole time. I was soo messed up looking everybody lets me cut to the front of the line at the ER. I took a max dose of morphine for 3 hours before the pain went down another 3 for them to control my Blood pressure 245/133 everyone was freaking out on me.
I can honestly say I faced death and was too stupid to notice him. I was totally clueless that week. It`s kind of humbling to know I could simply be no more. I don`t worry about retirement as much nowadays.

So evangelicals want to recruit you as an example of a walking miracle?

I find that interesting.

People who get instantly ill and then just die, if course, are never seen as miraculous.

I recall that when I first came to Miami, Miami Beach hotels were filled with ancient people. Every hotel had dozens of them in rocking chairs, most of them smoking.

I recall a conversation in which one buddy who smoked saying "See? smoking can't be that dangerous! Look at all those old smokers!, and another who did not smoke said "The ones that died of cancer are no longer here to look at: they are buried underground or sitting in an urn somewhere."

yeah it is quite sobering when it dawns on you that you are mortal.

sombering and a touch of recklessness. I`m less cautious now. knowing one solid punch can end me in less than a minute kinda makes me want to get into fights. no wonder they tried to push therapy on me.

I`m good ,really I am

I have the same situation going on. They are monitoring it closely.

My doctor has a hard time understanding why i refuse to drink 2 or 1 % milk.

My answer is that quality of life is more important than quantity.

She kinda agrees but has a hard time coming out and saying it.

What's funny is i quit making five year plans ten years ago. So you never know.

I got less concern for myself and more into what I can do for my family. What little time I might have is focused on making as much for my grand niece college fund. My brother inlaw HAD no concern about his health til she was born and now focusing to see her junior high graduation. high school he says is too much to ask. that little girl is whats keeping this family going.

the real tough thing for me is no more energy drinks. In make stuff at least twice as strong as 5hrs energy. I miss all that power.

a recent artyicle find most doctors when diagnosed with a life threatning illness will ikely refuse treatment the extend life but doesn`t help with quality of life. they tend to quit thier job and spend the remaining time with loved ones. Fairly opposite how they deal with thier patients.

So energy drinks make you ill?
Most are just shots of caffeine, sugar, guarana and vitamins. Too much can be bad for you, of course.

They tend to be hideously overpriced.

Don't knw if it makes me ill, but was advised not to take them. The goal is to keep my blood pressure under control and energy shot is not gonna do it

Jezzz Kimba.....didn't you also have a near fatal heart ailment in the last year or so?

both connected the anerysm blocked the blood to my kidney and  it increased my blood preesure which restrict more blood .so eventually my kidney shut down.

the proper name is aortic anerysm, but I call it kidney failure to make it easy for myself. I strange part is i never knew anybody with kidney failure till I got it and now I`ve heard almost a dozen people with it. no wonder thier in such a high demand for them.

so If you think you threw out your back and your heartbeat is racing like crazy, go straight to the ER asap you literally got minutes if you got what i have.

It was crazy I was planning to sleep it off,but something in my head said go to the ER. the whole time nobody told me whats wrong so i didn`t know how bad it was till afew weeks later on my followup.

Kimba so glad you decided to go to the ER

a guy I work with...his brother law had a real bad "stomach ache" for days
he was in a lot of pain...sometimes bent over upper gut pain
finally his wife basically forced him to go to the hospital
he had some kind of anerysm right below his rib cage in the center
and he was dead that day at 57 years old
they said if he would have come in earlier that week
before it burst they probably could have saved him

my brother is like that....he almost refuses to go to the doctor or get regular checkups

I'm stunned hearing this. I can't even tell you how many people tell me they know someone who got this. I had no idea how common this is. i never heard of this til my father had it and now me.

If they say don't take energy drinks, don't take them. Avoid coffee as well.

Perhaps you should try different brands of decaf. Caffeine is rather bitter by itself.

There are always herbal teas.

Read the label on those chem creamers sometime.

I sure hope Xanthin gum isn't bad for you.

Thanks but don't need to....like I said I quit drinking coffee.
Plus X-Gum was invented by the US Gvt & is accepted as safe by the US,
Canada, Europe, and many other countries. Of couse as it is with almost
anything some people have allergic reaction.
I suppose I actually never liked coffee and that why I
had to disguise the taste with all the creamers.

Xanthan gum derives its name from the strain of bacteria used during the fermentation process, Xanthomonas campestris. X. campestris is the same bacterium responsible for causing black rot to form on broccoli, cauliflower and other leafy vegetables. The bacteria forms a slimy substance which acts as a natural stabilizer or thickener.

Yummy!

There are some other things with longer names in Chem Cream as well. I use about a teaspoon a day in my morning coffee, but I try not to think about what is in the stuff.
