I'd try the public library. Reading pages is comfortable for me. Reading screens gets tedious after 20 pages or so.

Have you actually tried a digital ink reader? They're not like computer screens.

No, I have not, but I do not want to pay $300 to give it a decent try. I hardly think anyone is going to lend me one for several hours.

Books from the library are free. They require no device. When they are selling these for $29.99 at Walgreen's, maybe I will give one a try.

You have no friends that would let you borrow one?

Some libraries, especially those at universities, have eReader rental programs.

most of my computers can read ebooks
microsoft reader can convert text to audio.
I`m told mobi-reader to handle e-pub(standard format of most ebooks)

the problem is reading from computers is hardly comfortable.
tablet form is probly most ideal.

the only real advantage about ebooks is you can carry a literal library with you.

but real books don`t need electricity and you can read them outdoors in the sun.

I don`t know if e-ink can handle that

Digital ink is very different from a normal computer screen. It only uses power to change the screen - once the current page is drawn, it uses no more power. Also, it's very similar to paper and has good visibility even in bright sun.
