Nice problem to have

(Phys.org)—Sweden is hungry for trash and has turned to Norway for an offer it would find hard to refuse, no pun intended. Sweden is asking its neighbor for trash. Sweden's success is Sweden's problem. Sweden is a model recycler. Thanks to a highly efficient waste management system in Sweden, the vast majority of this household waste can be recovered or reused. As a result, Sweden has run short of garbage. Since it does not produce enough burnable waste for its energy needs, Sweden is suffering a downside to being such an enviable model of recycling. The average in Europe of trash that ends up as waste is 38 percent. Sweden's is 1 percent.

Wait and see... when they start asking Americans to recycle, it won't take the Republican'ts 30 minutes to claim that it is impossible and will lose jobs for people

I don't know about that, why would there be more Republican than Democratic objection to this sort of idea?

Right now I don't see enough enthusiasm from either to make a difference.

Because trash disposal is mostly done with the cooperation of cities and urban areas. Those who suffer when it is done poorly are the poor. Those who make the big profits are the contractors, who are tycoons and refuse to change because they think it will cost them profits, which it probably will, and should.

Just wait and see how this develops in the future. You will see no Republicans for 100% recycling, just as you see none saying a single bad word about fracking, mountaintop removal or burning tar sands oil and coal.
