President Bush got misquoted a lot , in order to maximise , minimise or reverse what he was really trying to say.

Turnabout might be fair play for the President , but I feeol poorly served by anything that is more or less than accuracy.

If he is a muslim, so be it. Big deal.

Is the beef really with the man or is it with his policies?

Hard to tell sometimes.

"If he is a muslim, so be it. Big deal"

You're right....so what if the man is lying his ass off.

"Is the beef really with the man or is it with his policies?"

Both.
Character and Policy matter.
And not uncommon.
Don't think so?...Try running John Edwards for President & see if the beef is only about policy.

"Hard to tell sometimes"

Really? Not for me.

if he lied about that then what other lies is he willing to tell? my experience if people lie they usually they lie a lot, people that tell the truth usually always tell the truth and then there are compulsive liars and from what I have seen from Obama is a compulsive liar.

Is he?

But just for giggles if he were openly Muslim would you have a problem with that?

"Is he?"

Is he what?
Is he a Muslim?
Yes I honestly 100% believe he is.

Is he lying his ass off?
Well he has claimed more often than not that he is not a Muslim.
So yes I think if he is indeed a Muslim he has lied his ass off.
No way he gets elected if he was openly Muslim....no way.

But just for giggles if he were openly Muslim
would you have a problem with that?

Define "problem"?
Do I think he should be free to run for Presidential office?
Yes, if he was actually born in the US...which I don't think he was.
I think he is the biggest fraud in American History.

Do I think we should elect a Muslim as President of The United States?
Absolutely not.

In my opinion Islam does not facilitate democracy. Islam at it's
core is anti-Democratic. Sure there are a small handful of
Muslim countries with a so called Democracy....but in general most are not.
Islam is distinct from religions like Christianity because Islamic states
have a duty to implement Sharia, and therefore require a government
with joint religious and civil authority. Islam is much more apt to allow
religious interference in government policy and to not allow democracy.
A democracy is a system in which all people are judged as equals before
the law, regardless of race, religion or gender.  The vote of every individual
counts as much as the vote of any other. In most cases under Islamic law,
only Muslim males enjoy full rights.  The standing of a woman is often half
that of a man's. The collective will of the people then determines the rules of society.
The Islamic state is guided by Islamic law, derived from the Quran and Sunnah.
A body of clerics interprets the law and applies it to all circumstances social,
cultural and political.

And if he is not a Muslim, and by that i mean a currently practicing Muslim, then he isn't lying. He may have gone to the Mosque as a child in Indonesia but i don't think that counts for much.

How many Catholics do you know who haven't been to Mass in years?

I think he is areligious. I don't think he holds any deeply felt religious beliefs.

I also agree in the current political environment he would not have been elected if he were Muslim, though fears of Sharia Law would be unfounded in this country.
