Texas Governor Greg Abbott says Texas will not allow Syrian refugees to be relocated into Texas in the wake of the Paris terrorist attack. He also called upon President Barack Obama to halt the importation of any additional Syrian refugees into the U.S.
"Given the tragic attacks in Paris and the threats we have already seen, Texas cannot participate in any program that will result in Syrian refugees, any one of whom could be connected to terrorism "being resettled in Texas," Governor Abbott said a letter to President Obama.
"Effective today, I am directing the Texas Health & Human Services Commission's Refugee Resettlement Program to not participate in the resettlement of any Syrian refugees in the State of Texas. And I urge you, as President, to halt your plans to allow Syrians to be resettled anywhere in the United States."
The Texas governor joins other state?s governors in taking action to stop the importation of potential terrorists. At least one of the Paris terrorists was a Syrian refugee who had recently entered Europe.
Michigan's governor Rick Snyder said on Sunday that his state would postpone any efforts to accept Syrian refugees, according to a Breitbart News report. "There will be difficult days ahead for the people of France and they remain in our thoughts and prayers," the Michigan governor stated. "It's also important to remember that these attacks are the efforts of extremists and do not reflect the peaceful ways of people of Middle Eastern descent here and around the world."
Alabama Governor Robert Bentley also said his state will not participate in accepting any Syrian refugees at this time. Fox News reported the governor saying, "after full consideration of this weekend's attacks of terror on innocent citizens in Paris, I will not stand complicit to a policy that places the citizens of Alabama in harm's way."
Emphasizing the potential danger to Texans and other Americans, Governor Abbott said, "Neither you nor any federal official can guarantee that Syrian refugees will not be part of any terroristic activity. As such, opening our door to them irresponsibly exposes our fellow Americans to unacceptable peril."

Abbot is a moron, clearly. Many Syrian refugees are Christians and Yazidis.
Many of those who are Muslims are no more a threat than CU4's best Muslim buddy he is always praising.
I doubt that he has the power to prevent them from resettling Syrians in Texas.

Thus far....these states are saying HELL NO to Obama's madness!

even if 90% of Syrian refugees are "peaceful" hard working people....no way to tell......that still leaves about 6000 that are not....why the hell would we let 6000 terrorist or terror sympathizers in this county? what are we gaining by doing this insanity? How many is China taking? How many is Russia taking? How many is Japan taking? How many is Saudi Arabia taking?

most Germans were not murderers either....but enough F-ing were!

I don't think that the governors actually have the power to ban refugees. The governor of Texas in particular has very little power. I think they let him choose the pattern on his Charmin.
-
I hear the governor of Georgia ,Nathan Deal, joined this today.
Not surprising.
I think we could do better than this.
Most of these people have more reason to be hurt with Isis than we do.
They need safety immediately, and perhaps, after a while, an armed right to return.
If there are terrorists among them they will be hard to separate from their haystack, but can't the whole haystack be made safe and in custody?

This is what is known as PANDERING TO THE YOKELS.

But is it a good move. Will turning those people away bite us in the ass in the future? WW2 was a product of the U.S. Not getting involved.
Just saying

Pends on what you count as the first act doesn't it?
When the US insulted Imperial Japan and refused to sell oil and iron to them , was that the first thing?

Brave Gov. Abbot repelled the invasion of Texas by Jade Helm, and now he is standing up to Syrian refugees.
He needs to find himself a Mexican Lucha Libre mask, so he can win support from Hispanic Texans for his unparalleled bravery.

The Paris terrorists were NOT Syrian refugees, but French and Belgian citizens and residents.

Some of them were, but I see this as intentional on the terror organizations part.
It fits their purpose to make their victims unwelcome where they might escape.
So a couple of these guys were identifiable as refugees, one even had his Syrian passport on him.
It was already hard to escape the Caliphate, the Caliph might like it better if it were impossible. ,
