"I would say, go back and look at any presidential speech in the last year and the discussion of the fact that this is very tough going is in there," Rice said.

Good point. Politics is a rough business.

In the local race, the incumbent, Jim Marshall, was not using negative campaign ads. His handlers must have noticed an unfortunate voter change, because now he is as well....sigh.

The sad part is that it apparently works. A societal dysfunctionality, I presume.

I really liked the positive ones early on in the campaigm, especailly the "sonnydo" ones. lol...great idea!  www.sonnydo.com

Lately, however, some of his ads are slamming Taylor....aargh.

Not sure why he bothered as his numbers are very high, but...

I think even the Taylor slamming ones are nicely done. Taylor probably made some inroads with the land tax issue.

I think Mary Perdue is Sonny's secret weapon.

I really do not believe most voters give a ---- about the land deal. They care about how secure they feel.

What security issues has the gubernatorial campaign addressed.

Although, come to think of it, at least for this football season, i would have liked tighter border security with Tennessee.

lol...

by secure, I mean "are they employed, is their family happy and well-fed" and so on.

I doubt that issues like the scumbag Foley and Perdue's land deal mean very much to most.

I'm pretty sure a lot are well fed , judging by observations at the local wal-mart.

Though to Sonny's credit he has dropped about 60 lbs in the last year. Leadership by example, i think it is called.

The immediate cause was blocked arteries.

Secondary causes were high blood pressure, carrying around about 40 extra pounds, a desktop driven lifestyle, borderline diabetes and a youth that was spent living extremely hard.

Plane, I got an error message when I clicked on that link in your post.

By the way,   this wasn't regarding politics.  Rice was talking about the Iraq war, and yes, we were promised that people will shower us with candy and rose petals, it would all  be paid for by Iraqi oil money, and we'd be out in 6 weeks.
