I find this heartening. I am opposed to the Great Firewall on general principles.

I believe that the free flow of information is a good thing, on the whole.


Is the free access of information no threat to the governmnt of China?

So are they less fragile in this way than was the USSR?

It seems pretty clear that the Chinese are a lot more tolerant of their government than the Soviet nationalities ever were of theirs. China has a vastly different history and different attitudes of the people towards their governments.

Probably free access to information would make the Chinese government's job harder, possibly a lot harder.
