Thanks Plane.  Kinda reinforces how even God turned from Jesus when he was up on the cross, bearing all the sins, of all the world, thru-out all of time.  Yet Js seems to imply we should just be cool with it

It is hard work for me , the idea that God loves the sinner and also loves the sin, is hard to understand well enough to argue with it.

You'll note that I never once said that "God loves sin." That is a strawman that you and Sirs keep building and beating to a pulp. It is not an argument I have made.

But back to my point that you never addressed.

Does Christ truly wish you to "hate" your parents in order to follow Him? Or are we perhaps dealing with hyperbole? What makes yours and Sir's OT verse any different?

And yes, there is another verse in Luke that uses the term "hate" and one in Genesis as well.

Did the father punish him for his sins?

A judge can dispense justice without hating that a criminal broke the law. For you and Sirs, why must God "hate" sin?

To me hate is a very strong emotion that goes well beyond anger or indignation.

Here is the only reference I find to "hate" in the scripture and interestingly it has nothing to do with sin:

Luke 14:26
Quote
If any one comes to me without hating his father 7 and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple.

The verse is very similar to:

Matthew 10:37
Quote
Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me

One wonders if the Greek translation of the Hebrew in the negative is not exaggerated by using the verb "to hate."

It was a great game.

The announcers sure seemed hard on Nashville and the Titans though.

Until they won  ;D

So France needed a stronger second admendment protection for its citizens , not a Maginot line?

I was just clarifying Mike's point of view.

Neither one would have saved France. They were toast.

Perhaps Js can provide us the scriptures where Jesus advocates that we love the sin

No need. Unlike your view of "Hate the sin..." I never made the opposite claim.

So your inference now is that Christ was.......ambivalent to sin??, no biggie??  That whole dying on the cross thing was for.......show??    :-\

Sirs, I hesitate to comment...but consider this: you are suggesting that Christ's death at Golgotha was not an act of love, but actually an act of HATE. Have you considered that? Is that what you really believe?

An act of love for sinners , a chance for the sinner to seaparate himself from sin , the sin which God hates to damnation.

Shown where? Where is it said that "Jesus hates..."? And yes Plane, I did read what you wrote.

In the Prodigal Son, for example, where is the hatred? Surely if "hate the sin, love the sinner" were a Christian principle then the father would have acted more as the older son had. Yet - he did not. God may be vengeful. He is certainly justice. Yet, hateful? I have not seen it.

I'm not seeing your argument being made very well Plane.

The German Army and Air Force was vastly superior to those of France. Also, German tactics had already been battle-proven first in Spain during the Civil War and then in Poland in 1939.

I think that what Mike is saying is that a quickly armed public who believes in defending their nation and employs guerrilla warfare is extremely difficult to dislodge. For example, the Germans had much more difficulty controlling Serbia - despite the Croatians using brutally ruthless tactics - than controlling France. The United States, a superior force to the North Vietnamese in everything but sheer number, had incredible difficulty with the Vietcong and Vietnamese forces. It wasn't that the Germans or Americans could not win battles, they could - decisively - it was that neither was able to hold territory and even worse, the cost/benefit of controlling those particular regions was ridiculously high.

I asked sincerely, so I hope you didn't take my question to be mean-spirited.

I do think that the entire universe was created by God. How did He go about creating it? I think that tends to be a question that is being answered by science. There is a belief that science and Christianity are mutually exclusive. This view is held both by some scientists and by some Christians. I don't believe that. I think the two go hand-in-hand.

The Big Bang Theory, for example, was discovered by a Catholic priest.

Yes, yes, never asked, and yes (though only as a vacation).  And all the while none of those examples of daily racist acts aimed at blacks or hispanics

I'm assuming of course you are the self proclaimed, "expert", now, correct?

Trying to have a discussion Sirs. I have lived here for quite some time, but nowhere did I claim to be an "expert."

I can see that there is little point in discussing the South with you. Hell, I can see that there is little point having a discussion with you at all. What is the point of this forum?

I'm not sure there is a good way to answer that kimba.

For those who believe in the market, the answer would be, "whatever business does not succeed."

Some religious folks would probably like to see the pornography industry fail.

I think it just depends on where the person answering the question is coming from. The fashion industry has two sides I suppose. One is all show and preys on excess and may even portray women in a dangerous light for young girls. On the other hand, I'm sure it provides a lot of jobs to various people.

Rift Cracks 'Demoralized' McCain Campaign
McCain Staffers Blame Palin's Lack of Readiness; Palin Loyalists Blame Over-Managing By McCain Handlers
ANALYSIS by GEORGE STEPHANOPOULOS

Oct. 27, 2008

The McCain campaign is definitely demoralized right now. The blame game has begun.

There is no question that there is a rift between Sarah Palin's camp and that of John McCain inside the Republican campaign, sources tell ABC News.

And you are seeing people within the McCain campaign starting to look to the future.

Not only Palin, but many of the McCain staffers, as well, are circulating their resumes and pointing the finger.

Whenever people in the campaign are starting to worry more about their own reputations rather than whether they're going to win in seven days, there is a significant problem.

GOP Rift Between McCain and Palin Camps

Palin is going to be the most vivid chapter of the McCain campaign's post-mortem.

McCain argued Monday that he "couldn't be more proud" of his running mate.

However, there is a significant rift inside the McCain campaign.

Those loyal to McCain believe they have been unfairly blamed for over-handling Palin. They say they did the best they could with what they got.

They point to the bounce in the polls McCain got when he announced Palin as his running mate, her Republican convention speech, and her first interview with ABC's Charles Gibson.

What didn't work were the limited, subsequent media interviews, most notably between Palin and CBS anchor Katie Couric.

But some McCain camp insiders tell ABC News they simply couldn't put Palin out in front of the media any more than they did because she wasn't ready.

The Palin camp is fighting back, arguing that if the McCain campaign had just let Sarah Palin be Sarah Palin, she would have done just fine on her own.

The Alaska governor herself has been pushing out on her own against McCain's handlers.

In recent days she has been speaking her own mind about what she thought of McCain's strategy in Michigan, and what she thought of his decision not to go after Rev. Jeremiah Wright. And we're seeing more and more of that in the closing days of the campaign.

Obama Tries to Boost Turnout, Momentum

Officials from both the Obama and McCain campaigns tell ABC News they believe there is very little that either candidate can do to change the trajectory of the race.

Unless one of them makes a major mistake, nothing they can say or do will affect them one way or the other.

Now, it's all about turnout and momentum.

Barack Obama is leading McCain 52-45 in the latest ABC News/Washington Post poll.

The only thing the Obama campaign is worried about right now is voter complacency, over-confidence, or that the idea that Obama is winning somehow energizes and mobilizes Republican voters.

McCain Looks to Pennsylvania

Pennsylvania is the only big Democratic-leaning state than McCain has a chance of turning around now, although he trails Obama 53-40 in the latest Pennsylvania poll by Morning Call/Muhlenberg College.

If McCain doesn't win Pennsylvania's 21 electoral votes, he would have to run the table and win all eight of the competitive states that were held by President Bush in 2004, including Virginia, Florida, Ohio, Colorado, Missouri, Indiana, North Carolina, and Nevada.

That's very, very tough for McCain to do.

The only way he has more paths to 270 electoral votes is if he can flip Pennsylvania and turn it around -- that would give him more leeway.

If you take all four of these states that will be decided relatively early on Election Night next Tuesday -- Pennsylvania, Virginia, Ohio, and Florida -- McCain has to win three out of four of those states to even have a chance of getting to 270 electoral votes.

Even that is a necessary but not sufficient condition for him. That shows what he's up against because he's behind in all four of these key battleground states right now.

Even more dire for McCain, the Republicans even started to advertise this week in Montana, which should be a solid Republican state.

And if you buy more at the store you pay more sales tax. But you are taxed at the same rate.

Quote
How is that not your precious talking point "punishing success"?

Punishing success means you tax those who are successful at a different rate.

This is not rocket science. It is equal treatment under the law.

And you'll tax internet purchases, correct?

Food?

Overseas imports?

What about duty free zones?

Never quite as simple as you'd like it to be.

With the exception of the first ten paragraphs, which are just setting up a strawman to knock it down - I generally agree. I think a lot of the criticism of Governor Palin has been ludicrous.

I understand it, in a Machiavellian manner it makes perfect sense. They have no need to address Palin on issues when they can simply attack her on non-issues. More to the point, there is a perception that Palin is an idiot (I'm not saying it is true, just that it exists). So what better why to lend credence to that perception than to attack her on non-issues? If you get down to the level of actual issues, then that detracts from the perception that she's an idiot. Keep her superficial and the perception remains.

I understand it...I certainly do not condone it.

Did you notice where the white folks in Columbia live? The black folks? Did you notice who has the money?

Did you ever make a trip down to the Low Country?
