I would suggest for those interested in a different
perspective about the Middle East they should sometimes
watch Al Jazeera live in english on their computer.

At a friend's suggestion I have tried it and must admit I was
pleasantly surprised at the quality and balance I have seen.

In fact I have seen some news stories and reports that have
shown the US and the US Military in particular in a positive light
that you would be very hard pressed to see on Amercian media
outlets like CBS/ABC/NBC.

Al Jazeera is really pretty good. Being as CNN and other news networks are constantly repeating the same stories, watching the same events on CNN, then Al Jazeera would tend to give a more thorough picture of the event than watching the same story on  CNN twice

XO it also seems like Al Jazeera has less commercials,
but I am not 100% sure about that...just seems that way to me.

Ha, just joking ya, CU4. (But I never thought I would see the day, honestly. Jazeera has always been excellent... people simply didn't look before.)

is so anti-American that it was pretty clear to see
that Al FREAKIN Jazeera is more likely to show
the US Military in a good light than Katie Couric

Well, here's the irony. I've been out of the U.S. for some time now, and I don't watch U.S. news much anymore. (Well, sometimes I watch CNN which, in our region, broadcasts from different regions throughout the day. In the early morning we get the Far East broadcasts; midday and afternoon we get the European broadcasts; evening is the U.S. version.) But what I do know is that, to me, living here and seeing so much more what's going on in the world, Jazeera has an extremely balanced broadcast. They aren't "America-haters" - nor lovers for that matter. They just give the news. The same with the Middle East. And there are politics at play here with them being in Qatar, but I still see that they don't favor one country/slam another country in their news.

So, in a nutshell, they are just giving the news. For now, anyway. Hope it stays that way.
