People can eat meat. It may not be the ideal food, but him,an beings can digest meat.

Hay and alfalfa, no one can digest. Some cannot handle dairy, especially cheese and milk.

Steak tartare is uncooked, and so, of course, is sushi.

You can sort of "cook" fish in a mixture of coconut milk and lime juice in the sun.

Actually, the *sprouts* of many grains are edible, just not the adult plants. The sprouts of various grains (mostly barley) are used to make beer and ale.

While there certainly is raw meat that would make you get sick and die if you were to eat it, this is hardly the case if it is fresh.

if you think about it thiers alot more harmless meat than vegetables.

I hear alot of people being allergic to plants more than meat (ex. peanuts)

i only know 1 guy having trouble eating meat after he got medication for it he was in a much better mood than when he was on the vegan diet. way more stronger too

I know of no raw meat that will make you sick and die. In some cases there are various bacteria or toxins *on* the meat that will make you sick and die.

Meat, left out, tends to attract bacteria and fungus and perhaps other things that will make one sick, and perhaps even die.

That is what I meant. There are probably already some amount of organisms on meat, so even if you sealed it in a vacuum bag, it would probably be unwise to eat it after a couple of days. At least, i would not eat it.

Perhaps you should discover the meaning of "dry-aged beef" - the beef served in good quality steak houses and sold in the best of butchers.

FDA be damned!

The same FDA that allows up to 50% of meat sold today (which they inspect) to be sold with staph infections?

My bad. That would actually be the USDA.

That's why the government tells you that you *need* to cook the meat before eating it - because they can't make sure that it's safe to eat. The government standards are so poor that spoiled and tainted meat is being delivered to grocery stores. Instead of making sure that your grocery store has healthy meat, they tell you to cook it. It's a lot easier to tell you that than it is to actually do their job.

It has nothing to do with "humans can't eat raw meat, if they do they'll get sick and die."

We are doing something worse with meat than failing to cook it.

Lots of American farms are giveing livestock sub therapudic amounts of antibiotics.

This has the potential to kill many of us in horrible ways , and make us helpless to fight.

http://www.scientificamerican.com/article.cfm?id=antibiotic--in-food-animals

Small doses of antibiotic  cause an animal to grow faster , but it pits a natural selection onto the bacteria that can resist the antibiotic. If we intended to create more dangerous infectious bacteria we could not choose a better metod.
