They have already lost a fifth of their population to death and untold more to refugees.

So, now you're upping the death toll to 5 million? (1/5 of a population of 25 million is 5 million...)

Got any docs to support that claim?

=====================================================
The cartoon says 5 million killed, wounded or exiled.

That seems about what I have heard on TV and in the newspaper and magazines.

Of course, not all the wounded will die.

Of course, Ms. Knutia said "They have already lost a fifth of their population to death and untold more to refugees."

He said that 5 million died, and more became refugees. I'd like to see docs for that claim of 5 million deaths.

Was Knute perhaps showing some more of that diminished neuron firing capacity, by thinking that 5% was 1/5th?   (though as you've already referenced, the pathetic toon was combining all the "tragedy" into that 5% lump, where as Knute's picking it out as only deaths,  Perhaps yet another misfiring)

Actually, the 'toon says 5%. 5% of 25 million is about 1.25 million.

You have any docs for the additional 3.75 million?

Apparently he has made  a misreading of 5% for 1/5th. I agree that 1/5th would be about 5 million, and up to 5% would be up to a quarter of that, up to 1.25 million.

Far too many Iraqis have died in this mess. Saddam never came close during his peacetime years.  He did start the Iran-Iraq War which wiped out millions.

Thanks for the help with the hopelessly anal retentive in  here. They always nitpick facts and ignore the truth when it suits their evil purposes. I have no problem admitting an honest mistake unlike their fascist leader that wont admit any

Facts are truth.

That's an interesting philosophical statement, Ami: "facts are truth." Scientifically, are the facts themselves truth or is the valid theory that explains them truth? Socially and politically, there are potentially more problems, starting with: who's the arbiter of "facts" themselves? I'm suggesting the view that "facts" are not "truth" but rather pieces of data, from which truth is made.

Anything that can be shown quantitatively, ie "facts", is truth. Anything that contradicts those facts is not truth.

There is no "truth" when the facts show otherwise, no matter how much one wants the claim to be "true."

So, either Knutty cannot comprehend 6th grade mathematics, or he was lying to persuade people. Interestingly enough, you also made a similar mistake.

Five percent is one in twenty.

Since the cartoon was includeing every catagory thismight not be too far off the mark.

Does this make one wonder why the insurgency is happy with this?
