It seems that North Korea won... they get a shit load of fuel oil (watch our prices go up) and political concessions... ie.  that nut that runs the country isn't so nutty anymore so we will no longer consider them a terrorist threat.

and

now we will have a whole new market to invest in.  One has to wonder it 'profit takers' will make this a roller coaster ride?

We took North Korea OFF the terrorist list?

Good grief.

Well, I shouldn't be surprised.  Corporatism overrides everything.

And wasn't she one of those acutely critical of this administration for failing to diplomatically deal with NK and it's nuclear threat??  Me thinks a little more of that DIHD...DIHD't phenomenon is occuring, yet again      :-\

Yes, I was upset we identified them as part of the so-called "Axis of Evil."

That seemed to do nothing but make them more intent on getting an atom bomb.
Good job.

So now, because it's financially to our benefit we take them off that list?  What am I missing?  Did they become little lambies overnight?

Are you saying they should be put back on the list? And treated as such? Did diplomacy fail?

North Korea is still a fantasy land of paranoia and famine with less connection to reality than Disneyland , what sort of diplomacy is he right sort?

So identifying them as part of the "Axis of Evil" is the good doggie part?

And now taking them off that list means we've found a big rock?

Seems backward to me....

No, more like Damned if he does, and damned if he doesn't.  I also couldn't help how you didn't answer Bt's question.  You advocating they be put back on the list?  If so, why all the guff when they were originally on the list.  If not, why all the guff about the diplomatic efforts to help resolve the current nuclear angle??

But now that we have all had time to think about it (and maybe so have they) the US denies that N. K. is off the list.

see yahoo news.  "U.S. denies N. Korea off terror list"

Damn it is tough going in an election year.

Maybe they saw your posting and thought it should remain part of the "Axis of Evil."

Must not have polled well at all.

Maybe they saw your posting and thought it should remain part of the "Axis of Evil."

or maybe it is more fundamental than that.  Looking at the whole issue..

opening up trade with NK would certainly be the most human thing to do...

yet in doing so you will open up a cash cow for the NK government since all R & D belongs to the government.

The thought of us not launching yet another war with the lunatic that rules NK will make many breath a sigh of relief.

The opportunity to open a new market may bring some relief to an area that is in a terrible financial turmoil would certainly be a plus

and as an election ploy both of those are definitely positive...

but for those struggling along who may not want our government expounding our tax dollars and time and energy (literal) on yet another foreign interest brings another added disappointment with our government.

and all of those thoughts and arguments are tinged with qualia and the dichotomy of not being able to walk a mile in someone's shoes.
