how on earth can smoking pot in one`s youth be hypocrisy in telling their kids not to take drugs?
unless their still actively doing it ,it shouildn`t be used against parents in lecturing kids
ozzy ozborne`s kids used that lame excuse
ozzy is a walking billboard of the reason not to take drugs
it`s stupid

It's not hypocrisy, in my opinion. Telling a kid to NOT do something illegal is the right thing to do, whether the parent ever did it or not. Kids can make up any lame excuse they want. YOU are the parent.
And boy, I sure agree about Ozzy being a walking billboard of why not to do drugs.

I'm not sure the legality argument is going to carry a lot of weight. In fact, it may just be more of an incentive to use illicit drugs than not to.
I'm hoping to have taught my kids enough common sense to know what is dangerous at that point.
