The least useful member of the Court. Stiff competition from Scalia and Alito and Pretty Boy, but he's lazier than any of the rest.

After 16 years he's still ranting about Carla Hill. The cushiest job in the country, and he's got it made for life like some useless royalty or tired old pope, and still, he rants on and on and on like Rodney Dangerfield about how he gets no respect, and wonders why people think he is a loser.

What a lameoid!

That was one of the worst decisions in the Constitution, to have any lifetime appointments.
There's a loser like Uncle Thomas on every court, if you study the history of the thing.

Denigrating a Supreme Court justice, regardless of who/whom they are is indeed tacky and uncouth.

I never let a recruit bad-mouth the CA, whether it was Reagan, Carter, Bush, etc. Just not done.

The man is an absolute disgrace to the bench.  The least qualified of all the political appointees, he should never have been nominated or confirmed.   I agree with Mr. P. in general, it is very bad form to bad-mouth a judge, since they are supposed to remain above the fray and cannot defend themselves.

However, there was always an unwritten code whereby certain minimum qualifying standards would have to be met before a person was elevated to the Supreme Court, and in this case the code was broken by Bush I in appointing an unqualified or at best barely qualified nonentity for purely political reasons.  It would be a travesty if someone as dubious as Thomas could not be attacked personally - - but the insult to the court and to the office of associate justice was done by Bush in nominating such an obviously unsuitable character and by the Senate in confirming him.

Talk about it or don't talk about it.

Makes no difference to Blacks, who have more experience with forced silence than your 'cruits.

They know that, even if it is demanded that the Justices be awarded that doctor-as-priest hustle-and-slide deference, his Honorable Justice Clarence is still and only Herbert Walker's BOY.

Try seeing HW as Colonel of the plantation, calling everybody to the front porch, that twinkle in his eye promising a contained contemptuous hiss,  to reward a uppity darkie with a little pretentious ceremony, pretending all along, wink wink look how dumb this little nigger is.

Blacks know that contempt, and you do not.

While you do not, Clarence does.  He knows.  It eats his lunch, and that is why he is planting himself  hiding behind the skirts of one of his betters--the noble Miss Hill.

Every time Blacks in America hear Clarence try to  blame Miss Hill for his own little step pimpishness, they will produce little winks of their own.  It will be the closest they will ever get to this brother.
