Rick Scott sends white supporters to harass black voters

Nice, Rick:
What began Saturday afternoon in Fort Lauderdale as an early voting rally for Charlie Crist turned into a shouting match, featuring the former governor’s supporters squaring off against those backing his opponent Rick Scott.
Crist’s bus pulled into the parking lot of the African-American Research Library and Cultural Center at about noon Saturday and was greeted by a crowd of supporters, mostly black Democrats. Also on hand were Scott supporters, mostly white, carrying “shame on you” signs. Scott’s group included one person barking into a megaphone.
He had to harass them this weekend, because Rick Scott eliminated early voting the Sunday before election day for the sole reason of preventing black Churches from organizing poll drives.
You know, Rick Scott has spent the last four years suppressing the African-American vote, fiercely defended George Zimmerman while refusing any changes to our "Stand Your Ground" law, cut completely state support for our black colleges, refused to appoint minority judges, and even told black legislators they had a sixth-grade education. You'd really think he's done enough to show his contempt.

Do you mean that the black people of Florida cannot get calendars?
-
Of COURSE they have calendars! That is NOT the point!
The previous tradition was to facilitate people who have no easy way to get to the polls to vote after church. The Republican'ts knew this well, and decided to put a stop to it to diminish the number of Black voters, since they know that Blacks in Florida are aware that the Legislature is filled with good ol boy lilly White types who respect poor people in general and Black poor people in particular not one whit.
-
So white people do not gather at churches in Florida?
-
No, White people did not have the tradition of going to the polls after Church to the same extent.
There was NO REASON to end early voting on Sunday other than to make it more difficult for Black people to vote.
Scott and his henchmen discussed this entire plan to prevemnt Democrats from voting and it was printed in the newspapers.
-
So the main thing is that White people will go out of their way to vote and Black people won't.
So anything that makes voting in any way less convenient to anyone is a way to skew the vote advantage to the White?
-
The main thing is that Black people in Florida are less likely to have a car, less likely to have a driver's License and more likely to have a job that allows them to visit the polls, and Rick Scott and the GOP take advantage of this. Then the Republican Party claims that it is actually BETTER for Black people than the Democrats. Which is simply bullshit.
-
If the polling place required an embarrassing costume , was open by appointment only , coincided with a monsoon and was not near anything.
The Republicans would vote.
-
Some would, some would not.
No party will ever get 100% attendance at the polls.
Most are lucky to get 80%
-
The Democrat vote depends on having the registration brought to them in their homes and practically browbeating them into registering.
Then extending early votes and widespread polling places to the limits of affordability and beyond.
Then the party spends six or ten dollars per vote strictly on motivation .
People who study the questions and make their own way to the polls whether convenient or not tend to vote Republican.
Now I myself have voted for a Democrat on a small number of occasions, in my theory , when the Republican candidate is especially stupid I do not want him to represent me.
This is how the garden should be weeded, and how the party should be spanked.
If my vote were sold to the party without exception , there might be no effort on the part of the party to offer quality candidates.

Rick Scott has outspent Charlie Crist by a three to one margin so far.

Yes , well....
I am having a hard time getting up the enthusiasm for defense of Scott.
This looks like a real two turkey race.
-
I think most Floridians would prefer two different candidates. I know I would.
But Crist wants to be governor, and was not a bad one.
Scott wants to be CEO, and was a rather poor governor. People do not like him. He has the personality of a hyena.
