Electricity grids pay the states? I had no idea.  The interstate highway system pays the states?  There again, I didn't know.  All these things pay the states, who'd a thunk it?

You never noticed the taxes on your electric bill? You never noticed that taxes were included in your fuel purchases?

I am not an electricity grid. I'm a person who pays a user tax.

Perhaps you are unaware of franchise fees.

Phone, cable and power companies pay them and they in turn pass them on to users.

And so is the person who owns the equipment the Internet connection uses.

As BT pointed out, there are lots of taxes already being paid to support the infrastructure.

You never answered the question - what do the various states contribute to the Internet that are not already taxed?

Then is it your position that states do fine without sales taxes?  Because this is what we are doing now when we buy from online merchants, unless we buy from someone in our state or another state which has a physical presence in OUR state.  We aren't paying sales taxes which are used for schools, etc.

So did buying mail order for many decades.

Property taxes fund schools.
