I`ve met very few who really like thier weddings.
I think only one ,but she told me it worked because made hers small
14 people to cut any chance of chaos
the reception was another matter altogether

We had about that many at our wedding as well. The reception was small as well.

I find alot of the traditions of marraige quite incredibly senseless
ex. separating bride/groom guest on the seatting just simply not good.
my friends was getting married and just mixed everybody so that everybody can get a seat.
and people really should stop acting like this is the 1st time a wedding has a snag.
I know for a fact very few don`t hit a problem

So called 'Wedding planners' add a vast amount of cost to every wedding they are hired to plan. It's not like anyone really has 14 friends to be brides' maids or groomsmen: most Americans do not know as many as 14 people well. Then there are the silly clothes, and the bogus "traditions" some fool fished out of a book on Mongolfrigian folklore, where the groom takes the bride's garter off with his teeth, and everyone smears cake all over one another to the sound of some annoying singer belting out song everyone got sick of 12 years ago. All for the average price of $22K, which would have been a lot more useful as a down payment of a house, which is, after all is said and done, what marriage is really about.

I only asked frienda I trusted won`t get offended
would you take trhe check or the china
so far 100% said they rather have the money.
pretty much most gifts are returned for cash.
remember traditionally people tend not to buy practical items for gifts.
it`s kinda frowned upon
expensive non-practical items ,seemed to be encouraged
ex. china
a gifts certificate to bed &bath is gaudy
bloomingdales is more apropriate

We have allowed ourselves to be indoctrinated by consumer culture to where fancy china s seen as an appropriate gift, and a gift certificate is less so, but still acceptable, but many people consider a gift of cash to be tacky.

A pretty large number of stores have gift certificates that expire, or reduce in value gradually to nothing if not redeemed. A lot of them are never redeemed, which means you have given your wedding gift to the store and not the couple.

Wal*Mart at least sells certificates that never expire, and are good for something everyone uses: food. Naturally, there are many that would consider a non-expiring certificate to Wal*Mart more tacky that one to Bed, Bath and Beyond, where there is a far smaller selection, and at higher prices.

I've noticed that virtually all stores have stopped this practice. Seems like only restaurants do it now.
