Gore pointed out that while most Americans have been led to think that the Puritans came to America to escape religious persecution, what actually happened was that your average European got sick and tired of the Puritan finger-pointing and other forms of religious intolerance and forced them to deport because they were always persecuting somebody.

This ignores the state of Europe at the time , which made Europe a good place to get away from.

What it does is create a fantasy world based in hatred of religion for the facts. This hatred is also responsible for the rewriting of history when it comes to the first Thanksgiving Day celebration.
