It's both, of course. Men don't give a damn about jewelry. It's a bad investment and it generally only appeals to women. The idea is to get the poor saps into the jewelry department, where they can be sold the high-profit, high priced stuff that brings in the big profits.
Men are generally shamed into buying jewelry.

That looks like enough gold to count as an investment.
But as investments go, Gold isn't the best, it only pays you to have some when all the others tank.
But since this happens every twenty to forty years , it is worth considering.
What , is good to have if all investments and gold also tanks?
