Have you tried playing those recordings of chanting Tibetan monks, or Indian ragas?

I find those helpful.

Actually, these chants are used to put the chanters in a trance. If you practice them enough and you understand the ritual, they probably work pretty well.

Meditation is not thinking. Meditation is looking inward and seeing harmony with the world around and within at the same time.

I might be doing it wrong.
When I do it I discovered a new form of concentration which require total absence of effert
I can only do it for a few seconds
it is so extyremely hard to maintain this relax state
but I can do so much in those seconds
am I doing it wrong?

I have not been able to attain this, but this is what is described in Zen literature.
If you find out how to sustain it, let me know.

I will tell you the one my father taught me.

Dim the light and lie still in a quiet comfortable place.

Pay attention very closely to the feeling of one toe.

After a while you will be able to feel your pulse in your toe.

At this point shift focus to another toe and repeat.

When you have felt the pulse in each toe you will have been absolutly quiet and still for fifteen minutes without realy noticeing the passage of time .

If you are still awake , try to feel your pulse in your feet and legs , fingers and where ever elese .

The pulse feeling is always there , but it is a tiny thing that is never noticed without either an unusually strong pulse or a very strong concentration of attention.

I`ll tell one thing great about this.
I don`t need books anymore to ocupy my time.
on long trips I got plenty to do now.
on this journey I don`t care how long it takes.
I don`t know about other`s but this aint boring.

I don`t think I care if I make it.
is that wrong?

Thanks for the technique. I read something like this in a magazine, but I don't think it mentioned using the toe.

Are you going on an actual trip, or is this a metaphor?

I enjoy reading more than I enjoy meditation. This could be because I am more used to it and better at entertaining myself with books and magazines than with meditation.

I meant travelling in general.
I like reading better also
but find it a hassle to carry all those books.
and I rarely get a e-book worth reading.
the selections(free wise) is very slim
also meditation is so far a very good sleep-aid for me
better than the pills

Definitely I agree on this one.

The use of gongs in Buddhist temples is to waken those who appear to be meditating, but are merely dozing.

Have you ever investigated "lucid dreaming"?
