. . . this one "(Health Care Reformageddon" from This Modern World by Tom Tomorrow) was just too funny to pass up. Best line in the toon was the aggrieved Tea Party wingnut's "How dare they strip me of my right to be rejected by an insurance company for a pre-existing condition!!"

It's called incrementalism.
They don't care if it's a good or bad bill.
The point isn't this bill...
This bill is just another building block in place
The end game is "control"...elitism control..."we know whats best for the masses"
It doesn't matter how much or how little they get today or tomorrow...as long as the end goal gets closer
The point is to incrementally get control of the masses
That can't be done quickly unless you kill a lot of people
So they slowly get the control they want by lying/fooling people

Well, you won't get any argument from me about THAT. The cartoon, though, wasn't really about how good the bill was, it was all about the craziness of the GOP/Tea Party opposition to it, even to the good parts of it.

That's a whole other debate - - do you vote for a flawed attack on part of the problem, or deny even partial progress as a tactic to force total progress? Part of the problem being that if you don't take advantage of the current situation to get a half or a third of a loaf, you soon won't be able to get even the fraction.

Yeah I've heard that before but I've also heard that half a loaf is better than none. Ultimately this thing could go either way, we just have to wait to see how it turns out.

The people didn't even get a half a loaf, they got a picture of one with a delivery date 4 years down the road.

The point is, it's more than they had before. The foot in the proverbial door, so to speak.
I got a bad feeling about the whole thing, though. It's so hard to see the need for the compromises that were made that it's starting to smell more like a sell-out than a compromise.
