Title: the internet can be unfair to the extreme minority of us
Post by: kimba1 on November 03, 2011, 02:50:11 AM
I was trying to track an article about how a very small percent of humans cannot eat whole beans(i`m one of them) .I can`t find it and at best I found a forum talking about people who can`t eat it. the pain of eating them is so intense I can`t stand up. my whole family can`t eat whole beans.(my sister went to the ER,because of it) I still remember the doctor in the article very hesitant n advising people who have this problem to not eat beans. like it`s forbiddens to say that in public.

tried several google searches and get many links on how healthy it is to eat beans.

possible

but I`m not willing to eat other beans to see which I can or cannot eat. It literally one of the worst pains i felt in my life. if I was water boarded after going through that I believe I`d ask for more water to make I`d drown better.

Severe stomach pain, and I'm assuming that's how it presents, is not a good deal.

The worse pain I've ever experienced was a kidney stone. Please, never again.

If you've had one, you'll have more.

On the flip side, the later stones are not as painful.

not sure intestinal pain qualify as a allergy.I`ve been learning people bad reactions do not always mean allergy.but I`ll definately see if thiers a test for my problem.but truthfully not eating whole beans has not been a hardship for me except for the annoying vegan refusing to believe some of thier food can certain folks.

When you say you cannot eat whole beans, does that mean you can't eat beans but can digest tofu, soymilk, sprouts and other soy products?

pinto,kidney
beans that require long soaking time. I think the problem is soaking take vitamins away from the beans so it`s now forbidden to do.

How could anyone eat these beans without soaking or boiling them?

If soaking removes the vitamins from a dried bean, so does boiling them. If they are dried, they are not edible, either. Beans have proteins and carbs as well as vitamins.

Ami, they say it can take ten years for all the pieces of just one stone to pass trough you. But, yeah, I'm expecting more of them.

it`s the long soaking that folks don`t like. also soaking them long makes them too soft for some folks. I like them mushy. the general rule I follow if it`s more healthier it`s likely bland or make me ill in a few hours.this rule actually works.

ex. veggie dog- I coildn`t spit it out fast enough. like spicey saw dust

I have eaten vegetarian sausages, hot dogs, and other faux meat dishes. Some have been excellent and others have been foul and awful, as you mentioned. There was a vegetarian restaurant in Buenos Aires that was particularly good. Argentines are the world's most serious beef eaters and would be harder to convince than most Whole Foods addicts.

I would say that the taste and texture of veggie dishes depends on the process by which they are made and cooked.

it depends what kind of vegetarian the cook is. most budhist can eat meat but prefer not to.so they know what meat taste like and is more likely make the dish taste good. a person who don`t like the taste of meat will be hard press make a decent tasting meal.

I`d trust a vegetarian that admits he misses mcnuggets to recommend a restaurant.

You make a good point: if you have never tasted meat, it would be impossible to simulate the taste.

It would be like trying to make a peach taste like durian if you had never tasted a durian. Or vice-versa.

I would imagine that every cook in that Argentine restaurant and nearly every customer has a very good idea of what good beef tastes like.

vegetarians is a mixed crowd. I tend to divide people as who never cared for meat to folks who miss the flavour. the one who never cared are the ones who hate the meat flavored vegetable and think vegetables are good enough.

I do notice not many vegans go to budhist restaurant.

Why do you say that the Internet is unfair to people who cannot digest beans painlessly?

At most it just ignores you, I'd think.

I still cannot think of an effective way to get the vitamins out of a bean into one's system without soaking or boiling said bean. I suppose you could grind the bean up and snarf down the powder, but that seems to be a bit desperate.

I`d just take a PILL.

I`m just pointing out how this bit of info is not easily found in the net. in fact I still haven`t found it.
