WoW
« on: February 26, 2008, 11:29:03 PM »
I was contacted today by the folks behind World of Warcraft. They want me to evaluate this online gaming system. I am to create a series of characters and run them through the system and report on any and all observations, inconsistencies, etc. Strengths and weaknesses of the gaming system are also addressed.

I am hereby soliciting anyone's experience with this gaming system. And, if you are already playing the game, if you would like to team up while in that system, that would be good as well so I may record your impressions as well.

Well, it was nice knowing you Professor  ;D

That game will eat up your life like nothing else.  I gave it up months ago when I decided it wasn't worth my time or money, or the loss of quality time with my SO and all of the other things that I like to do.

That's what I thought too.  Then again, you might be more disciplined than I am, if so, you might need it.  I didn't mean any personal slight to you, but games like those do tend to eat up a lot of your time and attention if you get into them.  I could tell you horror stories about my life while playing Asheron's Call for a year or two.

These days it's either CIV IV, Europa Universalis, or the Total War series, and never in multiplayer.

My brother and sister have been playing it....for a couple of years now at least, and kept asking me to get it, so that they could play with their big brother.  I kept coming up with excuses, which were largely legitimate, regarding time, and games I already had and still wanted to play.  Well, for my birthday last year, they teamed up and got me the game, and its expansion.  Fatman is correct....it eats you up.  SOOO many variations of things to do, characters to build, and the graphcis truely impressive.  Needless to say, I now have 4 characters in the game, all named after my pets.  My highest ranking 1 is a bloodelf rogue, leveled at 44.  70 is apparently the highest you can go, thouh I'm hearing rumbling from my brother, that Blizzard my upgrade the prgram to a level 80.

In any case, I'm available to help you, if you need it, and when I have some time, which is ususally late at night, since I have so many household duties that take priority.  Lemme know if there's anything I can do for you

Actually, they should get in touch with people who are familiar with evaluating RULES SYSTEMS FOR GAMES rather than software specialists. The biggest problems they have are not software related, but rules system related.

I'll take their money nonetheless, thank you.

Well, who would not like to take money from gamesters?

But being as you are not the programmer, I hope you are aware that their plan is for them to take your money, not the other way round.

Well, I get FREE access to the game and a FREE copy of the Game, so I am not "out" anything.

Years ago, I was involved in Quake on line and Dungeons & Dragons before that, so I have some expertise in gaming.

Free is good.It has ever been my favorite price.

But having THEM pay YOU would be even better. I take it you have not reached that happy state.

My Rogue is 34 currently , in Dark Iron.

That is better than noob status , but doesn't qualify as experienced either.

I'm in Hellscream.  My rogue's name is Muppette, and I still consider myself a noob, even though she's a 44     8)

How many points does it take to not be a 'noob'?

Is Dark Iron a place, or is that your rogue's name?

I assume that "rogue" is another term for avatar.

Muppette sounds a bit like a sissy name, reminds me of a cross between Smurfette and Miss Piggy.
