is it really safe to do business in texas
« on: August 06, 2016, 02:27:41 PM »
been reading about patent trolls and found the bulk of them is in east texas. since texas is successfully luring alot of companies to move in texas . i wonder will the trolls go after these businesses. quite afew large businesses tend to not bother to fight  and just pay them off. which encourages more troll to attack other businesses.

What is a "patent troll"?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patent_troll

If you want to make something , or write a program.

A guy that has a patent for something like it might sue you.

Not because he can make your thing or write your program or that his patent is really applicable to your thing .

No he just wants you to throw money at him to make him shut up.

When big companies do the same thing sometimes, it is to stifle competition.

If it takes you ten years in a court room to prove that your invention or program is really yours by then the profit could be gone from it.

Either way , real trolls might buy the rights to many patents on speculation that some of them can be exploited this way.

Okay, are Texans particularly good at patent trolling?

I think the best. Even if they lose and is ruled to pay they can get away from it. The business is a empty office with zero assets so no money can be taken from them. They simply leave and start all over again.
