I believe I was referring to those Americans who get bitter and cling to guns and God.  That's NOT "the common man."  Those are the hicks, the rubes, the hillbillies.

Don't know about you, but I've BEEN to southern rural Pennsylvania.  Coal-mining country.   If those folks are genuine anything, they're genuine hillbillies.
