Temple Grandin, it turns out, is an autistic professor of animal husbandry that has done a lot to make cattle feedlots and slaughterhouses more efficient and less cruel. It turns out that she sees things in a visual way that most people cannot, and has a rare type of intelligence that in years past would have been wasted in a mental institution.
This file shows what life looks like for a couple of hours as an autistic woman sees it. I thought I would dislike this film, but it is a work of genius. If you liked "A Beautiful Mind" about John Forbes Nash, you are sure to like it. Very effective cinematography.
There really is a Temple Grandin, who teaches at Colorado State. The film is available at Netflix.
The absolutely best thing on autism I have ever seen. As thought provoking as Rain Man.
