NYT Advertisement: ?General Petraeus or General Betray Us??
By Amanda Carpenter
Monday, September 10, 2007

The anti-war lobby MoveOn.org published a full page ad in the New York Times accusing Army General David H. Petraeus of betrayal the day he was scheduled to testify to Congress about progress in Iraq.

?He is just trying to cook the books for the White House,? the ad said. ?Today, before Congress and before the American people, General Petraeus is likely to become General Betray Us.?

The spot characterizes Petraeus as a ?military man constantly at war with the facts? who ?will not admit what everyone knows: Iraq is mired in an unwinnable religious civil war.?

Petraeus and Ambassador Ryan C. Crocker are scheduled to testify in a joint hearing before the House Armed Services and Foreign Affairs Committee Monday afternoon.

House Republican Whip Rep. Roy Blunt (Mo.) immediately issued a statement that called on Democratic leadership to condemn the ad. ?Enough is enough ? Moveon.org has gone too far with an ad that attacks one of our nation?s finest generals,? Blunt said. ?Democratic leaders must denounce these ads and make clear that they do not sanction what is an assault on the integrity and veracity of our nation?s top commander in Iraq.?

These people really are the scum of the Earth.

those miserable scum couldn't hold his jock-strap
this man risking his life, serving his country in wartime while these kind demean him while sipping coffee at starbucks
then we have to put up with disruptive anti-free speech leftist who come to this important hearing to create cheap headlines because they realize the democrats on the panel which outnumber the republicans will not be able to hold their own.

As irritating as the ad may be, it grossly states the issue as it's been cast for quite some time now, posing the real dilemma of poring more good lives into a futile cause when an alternate path should be followed.

I really can't find terms strong enough to convey the contempt I feel for these kinds of people. I can only hope that normal Americans, especially normal democrats (if there is such a thing), are half as disgusted by these sick, delusional, evil people as I am and vote accordingly.

Thought it was a bad thing to question the patriotism of those with whom you disagree.

Guess that maxim is just for other people.

>>As irritating as the ad may be, it grossly states the issue as it's been cast for quite some time now,...<<

You're referring the the lies with which the left has used to try and cast the war as a failure. I reject them for what they are. Lies.

What it does is show is the anti-american left for the juvenile, scum that they are. It points to their total lack of integrity and their willingness to do anything to assure an American defeat to further their own socialist power grab. Having seen the positive forward movement of Petraeus's plan these scum are using the tried and true method of attacking the messanger. It's all they can do. They facts are against them, but that has never stopped them in the past.

Which is defeat. The American people will now stand for defeat, and the more you and the rest of these scumbags cry for it, the more you will be rejected by the American people. The left has gone way belong the pail, and they just keep going. They are evil, and must be defeated.
