The NRA failed us yet again.
« on: May 25, 2014, 09:23:18 PM »
Another mass shooting, and the NRA fasiled to have a vigilant NRA marksman available to shoot the last nut with a gun in our regularly scheduled monthly mass shooting rampage.

Perhaps they thought it the responsibility of the NKA (National Knife Association) to have a knife wielding stabber on hand to stop the three first stabbings before Roger got his guns.

Yeah,  because that's the NRA's function,  placement of non-sanctioned armed civilian snipers,  everywhere that a mass shooting could occur.     ::)

Whatever law allowed this  guy to buy three pistols was clearly not strict enough.

If the only thing that can stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun, then the NRA has the obligation to make sure their members all have guns and are good guys, and station them where bad guys are likely to shoot up the place. If they can't do that, then they should stuff a sock in it.

Actually this seems like a good idea.

Shall we enact laws such that anywhere that is privately designated a "gun free zone" must have an armed guard on site?

Since the NRA is a lobbying organization I would expect them to weigh in on such legislation , not participate in the enforcement.

Why's that?.....did he have 3 hands??

As was demonstrated in the previous response, that's never been the NRA's function, nor obligation.  I realize the twisted effort to demonize the NRA when ever possible....but at the expense of any rational thought process??    :o   That's not even law enforcement's mandate.  The scenario you're describing is a Police state

I am describing what would need to happen for the idiot NRA president's famous quote to be in any way useful.

There is no information about whether Rogers killed anyone in a "gun free zone".

What specific NRA quote would that be?  As was demonstrated in the previous responses, one more time, posting armed snipers across the country in every location that a mass shooting could take place, has never been the NRA's function, goal, or obligation.  Implying that they should is transparent ignorance

Wayne LaPierre said that the only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun. That si why he wanted all the good guys (ie the NRA members) to carry loaded guns around with them. I was simply pointing out that this clever theory did not work this time, and rarely works anywhere at any time.

You'll have to provide the quote...in context, as there are other ways as well, not just a "good guy with a gun", so that's not the "only way", but a damn effective one.  But back to the point, that's not the NRA's function, obligation, or even goal, that there should be armed civilian snipers across the country.  That's idiocy...not to mention a Police State scenario

If you ever did want to be educated in what the NRA's function is, vs the predominant use of whacked-out liberal notions of what the NRA's functions supposedly are, you need only ask

Have you got a favorite proposed law?

One that would have made a difference ?

I think that if one of these victims had been armed , there would have been a fighting chance, but the perpetrator could have gone aside from wherever he might meet resistance .

I really do not know yet whether a "gun free zone " is involved , but I expect it , odds are good.

Right....so lets disarm the Police.
Police are part of the "good guys" and since their guns didnt prevent this tragedy...
Police with guns? Another stupid "clever" theory.
Lets disarm the Police too!

The Police make thousands of mistakes , why not disarm them?

Would this not save the lives of the hundreds shot by police every year?

There are dozens of Policemen shot by their own guns every year, this could be stopped by disarming the police.

Doesn't this make perfect sense?

These are the most easy guns to round up, and with hundreds of thousands fewer guns on the street there would surely be a consequent hundreds of thousands fewer shootings.

How many of this sort of rampages end before a good guy with a gun shows up on the scene?
