We have a deal!
« on: April 02, 2015, 05:52:21 PM »
We have a deal with the government of Iran.

They are going to be open and aboveboard and allow frequent inspections for the sake of free trade and an end to international opprobrium.

Of course the Congress will have to approve it to find out how well it will work.

So much for the notion that a bad deal is worse than no deal at all

So to sum up. Iran gets to
- keep all its nuke plants
- fortify their cetrifuges in underground bunkers
- research & development continue unimpeded
- restrict inspectors, in particular surprise inspectors, from any detailed scrutiny of any sites

And in exchange
- we lift all sanctions
- they "promise" to work on a "framework" for future talks

Hmmm, sounds alot like our "agreement" with North Korea.  How did that turn out again??

Perhaps the most "entertaining" component to this deal, is how Clintonesque & tortured the verbiage is.  Seriously, it's being reported as Iran and six world powers have agreed on the outlines of an understanding....  The outlines of an understanding??  Not to mention, informal, and non-binding.....and we cease all sanctions based on THAT??

In other words, it depends on what the definition of is....is

North Korea bombed the United States and  destroyed Los Angeles. Surely you remember. It must have been on Fox News.
===================================================

Iran's ostensible nukes are a propaganda tool.  The government of Iran is an incompetent assortment of ayatollahs who decide who gets to pretend to run the country as a figurehead. It uses Israel as a propaganda tool to gain support from the Iranian people, who have suffered all manner of privations, inflation and shortages. Iranians know that Israel has nukes, which is useful to peddle fear to Iranians.

Israel uses the Iranian threat to bilk more money and cool weapons from the American congress.

Suppose the US gave tons of weapons and support to Israel to erase Iranian nukes. Do you seriously think they could do it forever and ever?  I think that it would only serve to get the Iranian people firmly behind resurrecting the program and building real nukes and perhaps using them.

What the F*ck does Netanyahu want? He seems to want the US to invade Iran, a nation with 72 million people, dethrone the ayatollahs and impose a government that the Israelis like.

That is NOT something the American people will support. The US has demonstrated that it is not capable of  invading a Muslim nation and putting a government that it lies in power.  And even if this were possible, the cost in lives and money would not be worth it.

What Obama and Kerry are doing is the very best we can accomplish.

A treaty is the exact opposite of "an understanding".  A treaty is concrete, you do this, we do that.  There is no "understanding", muchless a framework towards an understanding

And once again, trying to argue a point no one is making....such as North Korea executing a nuclear strikes on the U.S.  Or the idea that I'd be pusing for open war with Iran.  You can't be this idiotic and be a professor.  That's just not possible.  Oh wait, you're a liberal professor, so I guess it is.  It has everything to do with Iran being the cheif sponsor of terroism, and a direct threat to the very existance of Israel, not to mention other Arab nations that we're allied with, and being allowed to build and design their own ballistic nuclear tipped missiles.  A Country who's leaders publically prclaims death to Israel & death to America.  The sanctions are crippling their economy and a fantastic bargaining chip, and yet Obama is caving to even that

The irrational idiocy here is the coming to fruition precisely what Obama claimed he wouldn't support (no suprise there)....that being a bad deal vs simply no deal

The US shot down an entire planeload of Iranians.

That does not mean that a treaty agreement is worse than invading Iran and attempting to destroy its nukes.

The US shot down an entire planeload of Iranians.

Purely an accident, and completely irrelevant.  Is this the famed grasping at straws tactic??

That does not mean that a treaty agreement is worse than invading Iran and attempting to destroy its nukes.

A non binding agreement to an outline of understanding??  That's political clintonian gibberish.  And one more time, who the hell is advocating invading Iran??  Give just 1 name of prominence.  I dare you

Do you think that was done on purpose and for its propaganda value?

Pretty negative propaganda value.

Iran has sponsored and supplied attacks that have killed a lot of our soldiers, and they consider kidnapping ambassadors to be honorable.

I would like to know how this agreement makes the need for attacking Iran directly any less needful and urgent?

North Korea bombed the United States and  destroyed Los Angeles. ...

And why would they not?

Is there any better use for their atomic arsenal?

Perpetual Negotiations

US-Iranian Recipe:
Keep Nuclear Talks, and Program, Rolling on until End of Obama's Term

Iran has hit on the perfect recipe for keeping its nuclear bomb program moving along, while luring the US and world powers into never-ending diplomacy in pursuit of a deal for curbing its drive for a nuclear weapon. The pursuers never catch up with their goal. Iran keeps them running in place by negotiations that never come down to earth or tie its nuclear hands.

Tehran's ten rejections:

Enriched uranium stocks will not be removed from Iran
Sanctions will be lifted immediately, not incrementally
No intrusive or snap inspections at nuclear facilities
No halt on research and development projects
No change in the features of the Arak heavy water reactor to limit its production of plutonium
The Fordo underground enrichment facility will not be closed down
Nuclear activity will not be subject to any restrictions upon the expiry of the agreement
The long-range missile program will not be a subject of discussion
No disclosure will be required on Iran's former record of clandestine military nuclear activity and tests
No inspections of military sites suspected of conducting nuclear activity.

This is far better than what Israel seems to want, for us to pay the cost of invading Iran, overthrowing its government, and occupying a nation of 70 million people.

Israel is not worth that much to me.  I suggest that if it is worth that much to you, you are not an American but a closeted Likud Party Zionist.

You seem to keep ignoring the majority of the other ARAB nations in the region that our allied with us, that don't want this "agreement, to a framework, to an understanding".  This isn't just about Israel

And what's with this mental disorider of repeating invading Iran??  You keep posting it as if someone(s) are actually pushing the idea.  Once again, arguing a point NO ONE IS MAKING

Israel has been nattering about this for at least a decade.

I suggest that there is no way to negotiate a deal that will be entirely one-sided against Iran. There is no way to cause Iran to forsake building nukes forever.

If you know of how to do this, you should share it with Kerry and Obama in lieu of blathering on and on as usual.\
