Yea...it's because he's black
« on: May 22, 2014, 03:39:52 PM »
Per so many on the left who decry any criticism of this president, and in particular Obamacare, that it must be becasue he's the wrong skin color.... It certainly can't have anything to do with;
- the higher rates,
- increased spending,
- punishing out-of-pocket costs,
- canceled plans,
- dropped access to trusted doctors,
- negative economic impact,
- home of the political lie of the year
or any of this law's myriad broken promises.

Naaaa, it has to be because he's black

As somebody whose try to apply right now. It's because they made it easy to not apply. If the goal is give people healthcare why have these deadlines to punish people who don 't make it.

To be blunt Kimba, Obamacare was never meant to work.  It was designed to fail.  Within that design was to get as many people off their existing plans, with the "logical fix" to the disaster referred to as Obamacare, the transition to a single payer system, where Democrats in DC simply shake their heads and claim "The GOP just keeps refusing to help fix Obamacare, actively damaging it whenever and however they can.  They only way we can fix it now is to go to a Single payer system.....like so many other modern coutries have done"

In other words, you ain't seen nothing yet.  But of course, this conclusion is "obviously" racist

The Civil service has been offered insurance with this feature for  a long time , so I understand this bit.
Any insurance scheme that features coverage of preexisting conditions , will also feature some limit to signing up like this .

There is an open season every year when you may buy insurance or make changes in coverage level , or swap insurance companies.

This is because of the feature of covering previously existing conditions.

If they allowed people to buy insurance after they had a problem , people would often just wait for the problem and then buy the insurance.

This would not spread the risk over the population and the insurance would not gather any money.

By requiring that the insurance be bought during open season , the insurance companies manage to get enough healthy subscribers to cover the sick ones and also profit.

Insurance can also be bought after major life changes , like marriage or birth, to encourage buying family plans.

I think that when the Affordable Health Care Act is repealed , this feature might be worth saving, perhaps in and of itself in a simple bill so that the already ill can get some coverage.

It will NOT be repealed. It may be modified, but it is too popular to repeal.

Define "popular" please, because last I checked, still an overwhelming majority polled do NOT like it

You probably cannot check oil in a car, either, Your checking abilities are lame.

There will be no going back to allowing insurance companies to exclude people based on pre existing conditions. There will ne no cancellations of policies now in effect. There will be no removal of children under 27 from their parents' policies. The teabagger stooges that spoke about repealing the entire law have mostly stopped saying this.

We WILL HAVE universal healthcare in the United States of America. The Republican'ts have LOST this battle.

So...in other words, not only can you not define your own use "popular", you apparently can't refute the majority of non-support Obamacare has had since even before its inception.

There is an election coming that will prove the popularity of the thing , in my estimation, negatively.

There are even some liberal critics of the thing , because it does not do enough, and leaves millions still uncovered.

A lot of people who used to like it ,or who could have been persuaded to like it, are very disappointed .

Of course everyone who didn't like it in the first place feel smug and vindicated , it really has all the expected problems, and a few doozies that were general surprises.

I don't remember anyone predicting very early that the web site would be hard to run , or that the Spanish version would be poorly translated.

But that it is a job killer and a tax increaser was indeed predicted , and were it not for the postponement of major features it would be universally understood so.

I think the President himself is dismayed , but what can he do now? Postpone more?

Michelle Nunn wants to be elected , so she doesn't want to carry anything unpopular around any more than she has to.

Quote
Read What Georgia’s Michelle Nunn Actually Said About Obamacare,  GOP oppo group America Rising sent out a series of clips from MSNBC's Morning Joe in which Georgia Senate candidate Michelle Nunn dodged an Obamacare question. They helpfully included this transcript.

http://www.slate.com/blogs/weigel/2014/05/19/read_what_georgia_s_michelle_nunn_actually_said_about_obamacare.html

Quote
NBC’S KASIE HUNT: Would you have voted for the Affordable Care Act?

MICHELLE NUNN: At the time the Affordable Health Care Act was passed, I was working for Points of Light. I wished that we had more people who had tried to architect a bipartisan legislation.

HUNT: So yes or no?

NUNN: So I think it’s impossible to look back retrospectively and say, "What would you have done if you were there?"

edit,...... it turns out that the unedited answer is more nuanced and sounds better , but is just as weasely.

There is no bingo. There has never been a bingo for sirs and there never will be a bingo. Sooner pigs will fly.

There may need to be a face saving measure.

Like a "repair" of the AHCA that removes all of the bits that work poorly(gutting it) but keeping its name on the books.
