Title: All Fracked Up
Post by: BSB on November 22, 2011, 02:15:13 AM
"Popular concerns about natural-gas drilling have centered on what chemicals companies are putting into the earth, not the least because this list is a proprietary secret.  In 2005, Vice President Cheney spearheaded an amendment to the energy bill, which critics call the Halliburton Loophole. This legislation exempts hydraulic fracturing from the Safe Drinking Water Act and protects companies like Halliburton, of which Cheney was once the C.E.O., from disclosing what chemicals are going into the ground."

======================

If I have a small farm in N.Y. state, and they're fracking a klick or two fom my property, shouldn't I know what's going into the ground? What if it's harmful to my livestock, or my children, or me? I think we should be told.

If anyone is pumping chemicals into the water table, you have every right to know what those chemicals are. Chemicals pumped into the ground should be analyzed before anyone can pump it into the ground in any significant quantities.

Cheney was and is a greedhead, and could care less about people who might be poisoned, so long as Halliburton gets paid.
