Saw about 3/4 of it .

Luckily the theater manager gave no grief about a refund.

It's being massively hyped.  That alone was enough to give me a negative vibe.  And I didn't like anything I saw about this guy.  Nothing funny about him.

Glad I didn't waste the time.

I saw Borat three weeks ago. Parts of it were very funny, parts of it were sophomoric, parts of it were gross for the sake of being gross, such as the scene where Borat catches his fat partner beating off to a picture of his beloved Pamela Anderson, and they wrestle and struggle, both of them buck naked, for a long time, their fight finally brought to a finish when they intrude on a convention of bankers.

There was no deeper meaning to Borat, other than every country, the US in particular is filled with ignorant rubes, as is shown when Borat elicits cheers from a rodeo crowd by stating that he wishes for a victory of the US over Iraq. He even gets a few cheers when he states a desire for George Bush to drink the blood of every Iraqi.

His mocking of the Star-Spangled Banner finally upsets even the most moronic of rubes in the audience.

So far as I know, when Borat crashes various venues, the crashees are unaware that he is an actor making a film rather than a real Kazakh ambassador.

The film will generate a lot of money, and a huge number of lawsuits, and therefore may be the last film of its kind. I really wanted to see "Flushed Away", because I like animation and because I was with a date and her little 9-year old girl. But the mother insisted, despite my telling her that it had been described as the grossest and most obscene thing not rated X in years. After the nude wrestling scene, she finally admitted that it might have been to gross for the kid. But she made no motion to leave.

For that and other reasons, I am not dating her anymore. I don't blame Borat, which was as it was described in the promos and reviews.

uncultured americans can`t take a joke

I`m betting I`ll be hearing that in a few weeks

borat maybe crash and burn very soon,no matter how popular it gets.

sasha cohen`s lawyers stated when the people signed a release waiver the studio is immune to lawsuites from them.

from what I found out ,all those release waivers maybe invalid

a meeting of the minds is required for the waiver to take effect.

and that part has not been brought up.

espeacially since some of those kids signed while drunk.

ex. girls gone wild-the owner had to pay out 100 mil to settle that one.

I don't think that it's that they can't take a joke.

They simply smell money, or have a lawyer that smells money.

I imagine that the Girls Gone Wild guys still made a nice profit.

But Borat didn't make anyone look sillier than he did himself.

the thing about borat is he does even look khazt
I look more khazt than him.
khazt are descended from mongolians
and his bio is way out there

He is the son of Asimbala Sagdiyev and Boltok the Rapist, who is also his maternal grandfather. He is also the former husband of Oksana Sagdiyev, who was the daughter of Mariam Tuyakbay and Boltok the Rapist. His relationship with his mother seems to be unpleasant, and Borat has commented that "she wishes she was raped by another man." Borat has a sister named Natalya, regarded as the fourth-best prostitute in Kazakhstan, and with whom he often fornicates,

whew!!!
is it my north-american sensibilities or is this really really bad.

There are a lot of people of Russian extraction in Kazakhstan, and Sasha Baorn Cohen in his Borat getup does look somewhat Russian.

His fat sidekick in the film Azamat Bogatov, id played by Ken Davitian, whom I am going to assume is Armenian.

Most Americans have a less than spectacular knowledge of the rest of the world.

Juniorbush asked an aide before he went to brazil whether there were Black people in Brazil. Arguably, Brazil has more Black people than any other country on the planet.

Reagan landed in Bolivia and thought it was Brazil, or way it the other way around?

Henry Kissinger said that Chile having a Marxist regime was very important because of its "strategic location".
To which some wag said "Yes! It's a dagger, pointed straight at the heart of Antarctica!"

As for the "Stans", Americans are barely aware of Pakistan.
Kazakhstan, Tajikstan, Uzbekistan are about as real as Kurdistan or Floristan

It was Floristan.

My older son left halfway through the  movie.

the thing about brazil is on tv there is ALOT more whites on screen.
it give a very skewed image of braqzil.
I tend to think of brazil as L.A. on overdrive
nothing is as it appears.

better food though

According to some witnesses the Rodeo Scene is edited to put the cheers and boos of the croud where thay would be more funny.

People who were there say that he was getting a bad reaction before he started singing.

I can imagine that any interview or situation he couldn't turn to a laugh was cut quite short .
