Mother Time, a.k.a. Speaker Pelosi, starts the clock

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Months after retaking Congress pledging swift action on a host of issues, House Democrats officially kick-started their "100 hours" of legislative activity Tuesday at 1 p.m. ET.

The self-imposed, self-designed time period began an hour later than first anticipated, beginning with debate of a bill to enact recommendations of the 9/11 commission. As defined by Democrats, the "100 hours" are not continuous nor do they include all activity taking place in the House of Representatives, being limited to issue-oriented debates and votes.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-California, led the effort, having been the most prominent champion of the "100 hours" plan.

Reminds me of a Steven Wright joke.  Fella walks up to one of those 24hour 7/11-like stores, and sees some employee coming out the front door and locking it.  Fella comes up to the employee and asks "Aren't you open 24hours?".  Employee looks back and responds "Not in a row"
