YOU GET TO PAY TO BURY HIM, TOO! Funeral director expects help from government to bury terrorist
From the EXAMINER, via BOSTON HERALD:
The owner of the funeral home that currently retains the corpse of apparent Patriot's Day bomber Tamerlan Tsardaev is asking the federal government to use its power and authority to force a cemetery to bury the earthy remains of the terrorist, as reported by the Boston Herald on May 5, 2013.
Peter Stefan, owner of the Graham, Putnam and Mahoney Funeral Parlors of Worcester, Massachusetts, is complaining that none of the local cemeteries will accept the body of Tamerlan Tsardaev due his his apparent masterminding of the recent terrorist activities that have resulted in the deaths of four and the wounding of almost 200 Bostonians.
As the funeral directed stated:
We have a body for burial that has caused a lot of controversy and we can?t continue to play this game.
Under normal circumstances, the government would say it?s (the funeral parlor?s) responsibility to find a place for burial, but this is not normal circumstances.
This is a nightmare. Stefan accepted the body of the terrorist last Friday, but has since found his funeral home the object of angry protesters who demand the killer not be interred locally.
Democrat Lawmaker Weighs In...
State Sen. Harriet L. Chandler (D-Worcester) has opined that it's the responsibility of the federal government ? not the state ? who should find a solution to the burial problem.
According to Chandler:
The federal government needs to step in. But I?m not sure what they?re going to do or where will they go.
[Stefan] a good man. This can?t continue.
He?s taking a financial loss as a result of this.
As cited by the Boston Herald, Gov. Deval Patrick?s office declined comment and the U.S. State Department said they were not involved and referred calls to the FBI.
