In Congress

An amendment to give the presidents bathroom decree the force of law fails.

So now it is legal to build separate bathrooms and label them the demeaning terms "Men " and "Women".

How many millions shall die of embarrassment ?

This is just stupid.

All this bathroom crap is just to get out the yokel vote, just like the idiotic "defense of marriage" acts, which defended no one's marriage

Transsexual rapists are not a problem.

No, Charlotte has a plan to woo conventions, and they7 thought this would benefit their plan.
It is their opponents that want to get out the yokel vote.

The Charlotte boosters thought that their ordinance would  make Charlotte more attractive to those booking conventions, I doubt the wanted all the controversy. The yokels saw this as an opportunity to use it to their advantage.

The threat of crossdressing rapists is nonexistent, of course. This was used just as the "defense of marriage" acts were used.

Why would promising less privacy to people , attract more business?

Why did you raise the issue of rape , and why do you repeatedly raise the issue of rape?

Isn't rape a secondary concern in this context?

It is MORE privacy for the transgendered. All nudity and exposure in a women's toilet occurs after the doors to the stalls are shut. Transgendered people do not wish to be harassed.and it was the intent of the ordinance that this would make more people feel more comfortable. Then the yokels saw it as a way to defeat the highfalutin' city slickers.
\
\The ERA was also defeated with a lot of talk about bathrooms and sex.

In Charlotte, an anti-discrimination ordinance failed in February 2015; after that, the Human Rights Campaign and other gay rights leaders poured money into a new organization — Turnout Charlotte. The goal was “to identify and support and ask candidates, ‘Where are you on this issue?’ ’’ said LaWana Mayfield, an openly gay City Council member.

With heavy backing from the activists, three new council members were elected last fall, tilting the balance on the council, which passed the anti-discrimination ordinance in February. Religious conservatives, who had adopted the “No Men in Women’s Bathrooms’’ message from Houston, were taken aback.

“It’s outrageous to have a big Washington, D.C.-based organization come into the state to influence the public policy of a major city,” said Tami Fitzgerald, the executive director of the North Carolina Values Coalition, an advocacy .....

This is a carefully crafted problem, it is made by and for the transgender lobby.
