Post by: BT on September 17, 2008, 05:54:34 PM
What are they?

Conservatives and Liberals are both expected to reply.

Hard to think of any that don't have a negative side to them, but assuming he exercises the good qualities appropriately, here goes:

- won't be pushed around
- will retaliate if country is attacked
- wasn't afraid to put his ass on the line in air-war combat
- has denounced the intolerance of Falwell and another preacher, Pat Robertson IIRC
- had voted against Bush tax cuts
- good understanding of the military mind-set

Mtee spot on...ironically.

You hit that one dead on.

I like his wife. She's like Diana of the UK, past.

Tough, strong, willing to fight like hell.

Sarah Palin is proof of that.

Taxes, taxes, taxes.......I want to know more.

I posted the candidates' views a whileback, btw...no one seemed to care.

I am absolutely interested in the details on this race.

Why aren't we posting such things.

On this one, BT...you are organized and conducting the thread like a tailor.

applause.

He is not Juniorbush.

He might disagree with tired old lobby-ridden GOP Party hacks like Mitch McConnell 10% of the time.

He seems healthy enough to prevent the somewhat ditzy Palin from becoming president.

He dislikes torture. (but lamentably, he thinks waterboarding is not torture and thinks that the CIA or military types temporarily given CIA status can torture).

He is very old, so electing him would mean that we would not have to pay for secret service protection and pensions for him for nearly so long as for Juniorbush.

Both his wives seems to like him.

He is short, so it requires less fabric to dress him.

He has good taste in neckties.

He probably knows all the verses to "Barnacle Bill the Sailor".

His wife could offer special sales on beer.

Seems personable.  When he used to be on The Daily Show all the time, he was always good-natured with Jon Stewart and liked to have a laugh.

War hero who deserves respect for at least having lived through what he did.

Former good qualities:

Straight talker:  Couldn't be further from the truth now.

Logical thinker:  Clearly he's not running his own campaign because he wouldn't be saying half the BS he spews now.

Maverick:  He's now the right's rented mule and beaten daily.

He's not afraid to piss off his own party.

He's not afraid to piss off the other party.

He had the guts to endorse the surge when it seemed suicidalto do so.

He understands the importance of defense.

He survived war, POW status, torture and partisan politics.  He came back in this election after everyone had completely written him off.

He thinks pitbulls can be downright purty if ya put lipstick on 'em.

McCain is a knowledgeable individual.

He really knows how the system works and I think that would lend itself well for him to get things done.

He's a tough guy, but not stupid.

He's not an effete toff like much of the right.
