None of these black individuals has to apologize for how they make their living, or what side of the political divide they're on, or the amount of African blood they have, or don't have, in them. The black community, through no fault of its own, has been arguing amongst themselves for generations over light skin vs dark skin and what it says, or means, or how it helps, or hinders. It's too bad some have a need to continue it. The color of a persons skin doesn't really have anything to do with how "black" they are. A lot of white folks are "black" through and through. If you understand the human condition you're "black". If you know about pain, and loss, and disappointment, and rejection, you're "black". If you can express all that and carry yourself with dignity and grace at the same time, well, you're "black".
