The custom is that the family of the bride is responsible for all wedding expenses. I cannot see where either member of the pair has a legal obligation to go through with the wedding or to pay for any part of it if they change their mind about getting married.

I agree that marrying any woman that is willing to piss away $95K on a one-day celebration is an act of clear insanity.

You could be better off trying to inseminate a herd of starving hyenas.

No sane man should marry such a woman: it is only the start of a life made in Hell.

I always found the egyptians has the most intelligent marriage customs. They don`t marry till they have 1 year rent. The marraige rate there is alittle low , parents are actually telling thier kids thier too old fashion.

I knew a kid from Egypt and his response to the custom was "duh! how do you expect to have a good marraige if your worrying about money all the time"
