Downton Abbey Season 3 Premieres
SUNDAY, JAN. 6, 9PM, WGBH 2

The third season begins with the family and staff preparing for Mary and Matthew's wedding. Among the guests is Cora’s mother from America, played by Shirley MacLaine. Robert, meanwhile, receives bad news about an investment.

Some of you who live in the unhealthy red states may not get Masterpiece on PBS. Your channels are probably filled with NASCAR, gun-nutery, and fast food ads.

Believe it or not, they have cable or dish in the flyover states. Which means we get to watch PBS and CSpan if we choose, just like the sophisticates on the coast.

BBC America is showing a lot of recent Dr. Who.

I miss the fourth , he was very lighthearted for a time lord.

Downton Abbey is a good series. It gives a great historical perspective on England during this period.

  I haven't seen it , but from descriptions I have read, I suspect it is not my cup of tea.
