Title: Iraq makes it to 160!

Unaccountably , Iran which is in many ways simular , but during 2005 was not yet invaded by the US and allies , was number 159.

The death rate depends on at least THREE factors: (1) the average age of the population (older people die at a greater rate)
(2) deaths due to disease (which explains the high death rates for African countries that have not been at war), and (3) death due to war and other violence.

When you anayze this list, it doesn't really surprise me as a whole anyway. Look carefully at the list of countries.

Also, the quality of health care plays a major role and is why many of the more civilized nations are ranked more favorably.
