Senator Jim Webb puts out a statement that puts the notion of a quick Senate vote out of reach and pretty much makes a certification fight moot:
In many ways the campaign in Massachusetts became a referendum not only on health care reform but also on the openness and integrity of our government process. It is vital that we restore the respect of the American people in our system of government and in our leaders. To that end, I believe it would only be fair and prudent that we suspend further votes on health care legislation until Senator-elect Brown is seated.
And good luck getting Lieberman to vote for cloture this week anyway.

It must be pointed out that this is a far more important thing than it looks like at first glance.
Webb, as you may recall, took a Republican seat (John Warner's IIRC) from Virginia during the Bush days. This moron bitched out Bush because of his son being in Iraq (or it may have been Afghanistan) thinking that it would make him look tough. He has never been conciliatory, though since the Dems got their asses handed to them in the governor's race he has backed down. What Jim Webb saw tonight was his career flashing before his eyes. He knows his chances are getting mighty slim when he comes up for election again. Suddenly, this tactless bastard wants to play nice.
He is not the only one in the Senate looking over his shoulder at the home state voters. The game has changed.

"thinking that it would make him look tough"
Webb doesn't need to look tough. He is tough.

Welcome back Chester, slid out from under that rock I see. Did the VA come pick you up and escort you to the polls and did the Dems give you a free lunch for voting for Coakley?,
